Winter! The good - hot chocolate on the couch by the fire, delicious casseroles, watching a movie on a Sunday afternoon because it’s cold and rainy outside, footy.
The bad - it’s cold! Mental health can decline due to less sun exposure, colds and flus, less outdoor activity can leave you feeling bleurgh.
So what to do? Well, firstly, make the most of the good! Then tackle the bad head on by firstly, keeping up to date with your vaccines. We still have all flu vaccines in stock here at the clinic.
Hygiene. You can reduce the risk of getting sick or passing infections on to others by washing your hands, wiping down frequently touched surfaces, and covering your coughs and sneezes with a tissue.
Stay home when sick, see your doctor, and refer back to the good things about winter.
Nutrition. Eat well and fuel your body with good healthy foods.
Check in with your doctor if you’re feeling low. Winter can play a part in your mood, so have a chat with your GP if you’re not feeling like yourself. It can also exacerbate existing chronic illnesses so make sure you have a plan to manage this with your doctor.
So this winter, try and focus on the good, but make sure you take care of YOU.
