We're incredibly proud to celebrate physiotherapist Elizabeth Evans, who has been appointed as Team Physiotherapist for Team Samoa at this year's Commonwealth Games.

Elizabeth, who works at Royal Rehab LifeWorks as a Physiotherapist and Clinical Lead for Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology, has earned this appointment in recognition of her expertise, professionalism and dedication to physiotherapy. It's a fantastic personal achievement and an exciting opportunity to contribute her skills on the international stage.

We're delighted to recognise Elizabeth's accomplishment and wish her, along with Team Samoa, every success throughout the Games. And, while we're at it, we're also cheering on Team Australia and wishing them all the best for a successful Games.

Good luck, Elizabeth!

It was wonderful to welcome The Hon Natalie Ward MLC, NSW Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party and Shadow Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Sport, to Royal Rehab Ryde yesterday.

Hosted by our CEO Matt Mackay, the visit was a chance to showcase the specialist rehabilitation services we provide for people living with brain injury, spinal cord injury and other neurological conditions, and to share the difference these services make every day.

One of the highlights was introducing Natalie to some of our incredible nurses, clinicians and support staff. Taking the time to hear their stories and thank them for their dedication was a meaningful part of the visit, and a reminder that it’s our people who are at the heart of everything we do.

Natalie also visited our Advanced Technology Centre, where she saw how innovative rehabilitation technology works alongside expert clinical care to help people regain skills, confidence and independence.

We also spoke about the importance of raising awareness of specialist rehabilitation. For many people, organisations like Royal Rehab only come onto their radar after life changes in an instant. By sharing these stories and shining a light on what’s possible through rehabilitation, we can help more people understand the support that’s available when it’s needed most.

Thank you, Natalie, for taking the time to visit, meet our team and learn more about the work we do. We appreciate your interest and look forward to continuing the conversation about the future of specialist rehabilitation in New South Wales.

What an incredible weekend at the 7Cairns Marathon Festival!

We were proud to sponsor the 5km Walk and to see so many of our Royal Rehab LifeWorks and FNQ Health & Fitness team, clients, families and supporters out in force. The sea of orange was hard to miss, and it was wonderful to share the experience with such an amazing community.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us over the two days and helped make the weekend so memorable. Whether you walked, cheered, volunteered or simply stopped by to say hello, we loved being part of it with you.

We're already looking forward to doing it all again next year. 🧡

Some of the most valuable moments this NAIDOC Week weren't the planned activities, they were the conversations that followed.

Across Royal Rehab Group, our teams walked Country, joined Yarning Circles and took time to better understand the stories, history and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Those experiences prompted reflection, questions and conversations that will stay with us well beyond this week.

As NAIDOC marks its 50th year, we're grateful for the opportunity to listen, learn and recognise the strength, resilience and enduring cultures of First Nations peoples.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this week one of genuine connection and learning.

NAIDOC Week gives us an opportunity to come together, to listen, to learn and to celebrate the rich cultures, histories and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year is especially significant, marking 50 years of NAIDOC. It's a chance to recognise the generations of Elders, leaders, advocates, artists and communities whose strength and determination have helped shape a better future, while looking ahead to the next generation who will continue that legacy.

Across Royal Rehab Group, our teams will be taking part in a range of activities throughout the week, from yarning circles and cultural walking experiences to coming together over morning teas to learn, share and reflect. These experiences are an opportunity to deepen our understanding, challenge ourselves to keep learning, and strengthen the way we care for the communities we serve.

NAIDOC Week isn't just about celebrating the past. It's about recognising the legacy being created today and the responsibility we all share in helping build a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and voices continue to flourish.

We wish everyone a meaningful and happy NAIDOC Week.

A NEW SPINAL CORD INJURY RESEARCH BASE AT ROYAL REHAB RYDE

We are delighted to announce that, from 22 June, the Spinal Cord Injury Research Collaborative (SCIRC) will be based at our Royal Rehab Ryde Hospital campus.

Led by Professor Jane Butler from The Kolling Institute and The University of Sydney, SCIRC is a team of neurophysiologists, medical physicians and physiotherapists dedicated to advancing research into the neural control of movement following spinal cord injury. Their work aims to develop new approaches to improve limb, trunk and respiratory motor function, while delivering clinical trials that have the potential to improve outcomes for people living with spinal cord injury - work that aligns closely with Royal Rehab's clinical focus.

This is an important milestone for Royal Rehab Group and further strengthens our position as a leader in neurological rehabilitation, research and innovation. The co-location of a dedicated spinal cord injury research team within a specialised rehabilitation hospital creates a unique environment where research, clinical expertise and patient care come together to accelerate the translation of discoveries into practice.

As Professor Jane Butler explains, "We are thrilled to relocate our research gym and laboratories to Royal Rehab Hospital at Ryde—an Australian first for spinal cord injury research, embedding research directly within a specialised clinical rehabilitation environment, and a significant milestone for the field."

SCIRC has already worked closely with NeuroMoves, with future collaborations planned with Sargood on Collaroy. Together, these partnerships reflect Royal Rehab Group's ongoing commitment to advancing research, innovation and evidence-based care, helping shape the future of spinal cord injury rehabilitation in Australia.

Sun, bikes and an incredible community spirit - MS Brissie to the Bay delivered it all.

We loved being part of the action, cheering riders on at the Criterion Track as the Circuit Challenge Sponsor and catching up with so many familiar and new faces in the Event Village.

Our NeuroMoves Ice Compression Cool Down Zone was a popular post-ride stop, giving riders a chance to recover after an impressive effort on the course.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who rode with Team NeuroMoves. Your dedication and support help create more opportunities for people living with neurological conditions to move, connect and thrive.

Days like these remind us what can happen when a community comes together for a great cause. 💙

We were pleased to welcome The Hon Sarah Mitchell MLC, NSW Shadow Minister for Health and Regional Health, to Royal Rehab today.

Hosted by CEO Matt Mackay and Chairman Tony Staveley AM, the visit provided an opportunity to highlight the important role Royal Rehab plays in delivering specialist rehabilitation services to people across metropolitan, regional and rural New South Wales.

A key focus of the visit was Royal Rehab's Spinal Outreach Service (SOS), which supports people living with spinal cord injury throughout NSW. Covering the entire state, the service delivers specialist outreach clinics in major regional centres, helping people access expert spinal cord injury care closer to home and reducing the need for travel to metropolitan centres.

In addition to direct clinical support, SOS works closely with local health professionals, providing education, training and specialist advice that helps build capability within regional communities. This collaborative approach ensures people living with spinal cord injury can access high-quality, specialist support regardless of where they live.

During the visit, Sarah also toured Royal Rehab's Spinal Cord Injury Unit, Brain Injury Unit and Advanced Technology Centre, gaining insight into the innovative rehabilitation services that support people throughout their recovery journey.

Visits such as this are an important opportunity to showcase the value of specialist outreach services and the critical role they play in improving access to care for people living in regional and rural communities.

We thank Sarah for taking the time to learn more about our services and the impact they have on the lives of people across NSW.

National Reconciliation Week has looked a bit different across our teams this year.

Some came together over morning tea and conversation. Others spent time learning, reflecting and supporting First Nations businesses, or raising their voices for reconciliation through song.

In a few places, it was simply about making space to talk and listen. There’s no single way to “do” reconciliation week and that’s probably the point.

What matters is taking the time, being open, and thinking about what we can each do differently. The week might be wrapping up, but the work doesn’t.
