Health Happenings | Colouring Competition Winners

Recently our campuses were full of colour as we displayed the entries from our Dental Health Week colouring competition!

With nearly 250 entries, choosing the winners was no easy task.

Dental Health Week is a great reminder that looking after our teeth starts from an early age. Brushing twice a day, choosing nutritious foods and drinks, and having regular dental check-ups all help keep our smiles healthy 🪥🦷

Thank you to all of our local schools and early learning centres for your support.

Welcome to St Arnaud, Dr Jahanara Quoraishi!

East Wimmera Health Service is pleased to welcome Dr Jahanara Quoraishi to the St Arnaud Medical Practice as a GP Registrar.

Dr Quoraishi brings a wealth of experience in women's health, clinical ultrasound, mental health, emergency medicine and chronic disease management. Originally from Bangladesh, she has worked across a range of healthcare settings in Bangladesh, New Zealand and Australia, building broad clinical expertise and a strong commitment to patient-centred care.

Supported through the Rural Vocational Training Scheme, Dr Quoraishi will be practising in St Arnaud over the next four years while working towards Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Please join us in welcoming Jahanara and her family to our community. We look forward to the valuable contribution she will make to local healthcare.

The Health Promotion team are excited to be partnering with Wycheproof Community Resource Centre to bring High Tea Paint and Sip to Wycheproof. Registrations are essential, please contact the team at WCRC to book your place! ☎️ 5493 7455

We are teaming up to host a paint and sip with a little twist. Partnering with EWHS in the name of mental health we will be having a high tea paint and sip session on the 30th of August. Spots are limited so make sure you get your name down quick!

This World Breastfeeding Week, we're proud to support breastfeeding families across our communities.

Keep an eye out for the "Breastfeeding Welcome Here" stickers displayed throughout EWHS sites. These stickers show that breastfeeding is welcomed, supported and respected in these spaces.

AusAlert Test | 2pm - Monday 27 July

This coming Monday 27 July, a national test in preparation of the AusAlert system will happen at 2pm. This is in preparation for the system becoming available for emergencies in October.

What will happen on Monday at 2pm:
- Every phone will alarm and vibrate lasting for about 10 secs – even if set to silent or DND.
- You may receive a test alert on your mobile phone, tablet or smart watch.
- It will appear as a notification on your mobile device’s screen and will show up during phone calls and app use, and on lock screens. - - You’ll need to close the notification once you’ve seen the message, otherwise it will remain on your screen.
- As this is just a test, you don’t need to do anything.
- The AusAlert national test is a Critical Alert, which you can’t opt out of.
- If receiving it could disrupt you or cause you or a loved one to feel unsafe, please turn off your mobile devices or switch them to aeroplane mode before the test time in your location and leave them off for at least one hour.
