In the last 12 months, I’ve really noticed an increase in VBACs (vaginal birth after caesarean)!
We’ve definitely had an influx of them in practice and that tells me two things….
1. Women are understanding that VBACs are achievable and that there are numerous benefits to vaginal births. ❤️
2. There are more birth workers that are supporting families to choose this as an option 🎉❤️
It’s amazing to see!
So long ‘once a caesarean, always a caesarean’ ✨
If you’re planning a VBAC, maybe contemplating one or maybe even this post might plant a seed…..here are a few considerations 👇🏼
1. Pelvic function and optimal foetal positioning
In our modern world, our pelvises are generally poorly functioning. We sit hours more than ever intended, we move hours less than we need, we don’t squat and barely ever get down on the floor to sit.
Without optimal pelvic function, baby is less likely to get into the optimal foetal position, meaning it’s more probable for malpositioning of baby.
Chiropractic care can help pelvic function ✨
2. Nervous system regulation
We need a nervous system that ramps up when needed and tones down when needed. If we can’t regulate, we often will ramp up but can’t tone down when needed.
This is incredibly important when going into birth - if we can’t tone down, birth can stall. And if you’re birthing in a hospital setting, the time starts ticking.

Chiropractic can also help nervous system regulation. ✨
3. Viewing birth as a normal physiological process
When we understand how birth works and that it’s a normal biological process just like everything else our body does, we are more likely to honour that.
You can plan around this and choose things to help this process unfold in a natural, undisturbed way.
Holistic birth education with can help with this.
4. The cascade of invention
If you’re actively trying to avoid a caesarean, then you need to understand the processes that most likely get you in the operating room. Continued in comments 👇🏼
