I agree with this article. No one commits to su***de, they decide to su***de. They make the hardest decision of their life to leave their loved ones behind, knowing they may have to come back to Earth to finish the life and lessons they didn’t finish.

I always talk in terms of - They took themself across. The truth. No harshness. No judgement.

Please be kind to everyone, we don’t know what each person around us is going through. A little kindness goes a long way.

It’s time we stop saying “committed su***de.”

Not because we want to police people’s words, but because the words we use shape how we understand someone else’s pain.

For generations, su***de was treated as a crime, a sin, or a moral failure. While our understanding of mental health has evolved, some of our language hasn’t caught up.

When we say someone “committed su***de,” we carry a piece of that history into the present. The word committed is often associated with wrongdoing, and that is not how we should remember someone who lost their life.

They did not commit a crime. They died by su***de.

Su***de is complex, and no person’s life should be reduced to the circumstances of their death. They were someone’s child, sibling, parent, partner, or friend. They had dreams, stories, and people who loved them.

Changing our language won’t erase the grief, but it can help remove the judgment and shame that have surrounded su***de for far too long.

Language matters because people matter. Every life lost deserves dignity, and every conversation deserves compassion.
