Jumping is one of the most helpful things you can do to keep your bones strong. 🦴

A 2024 study which looked at a large number of subjects, found jump training significantly improved bone mineral density, especially in the hip, a site commonly affected by osteoporosis.

💡As a low risk way to start jump training you could try these double leg jumps: 5x10 jumps in your shoes 3-4x per week

Welcome to our new Dietitian Caitie Minger⭐️
Bachelor of Food and Nutrition (B.Sc) & Bachelor of Science (Hons)
Master of Dietetics

PhD Candidate
Caitie is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) and Accredited Sports Dietitian (AccSD) who delivers evidence-based, human-centred, and highly individualised dietary interventions. Most importantly, she ensures her nutrition strategies are practical and achievable, tailoring her approach to meet clients exactly where they are in their readiness to change.

Caitie has extensive experience working within elite high-performance settings. She currently serves as a VFL Dietitian for the Footscray Bulldogs, where she oversees match-day fueling, player hydration, and supplement programming. Her background in competitive sports also includes working as a Sports Dietitian Assistant with Melbourne United NBL as well as expanding her knowledge on intricate sports such as dance within her honours research in 2025.

Currently expanding her expertise through a PhD at La Trobe University, Caitie’s research focuses on the variables influencing nutrition education and behaviour change in dancers. This work will allow her to design targeted and industry-specific nutrition education guidelines to be implemented nationally for all dance organisations to ensure that dancers of all levels are being provided with safe, evidence-based and relevant nutrition education throughout their career.

Clinically, she has a special interest in sports performance, managing low energy availability (LEA) and RED-S in performing artists, and body composition tracking via ISAK Level 1 skinfold assessments. Living locally in the Bayside area, Caitie is an avid recreational runner who loves training for upcoming half and full marathons as well as spending time outdoors with her partner and her puppy.

A recent study aimed to compare gluteal muscle forces in eight hip exercises performed with and without external resistance.
Gluteal muscle forces were increased by varying amounts when adding 12RM external resistance (this is the max amount of weight a person can lift for 12 repetitions before experiencing muscle fatigue and being unable to complete another rep.)

These graphs depict findings which can help inform exercise selection by facilitating the targeting of individual gluteal muscles. This can help with injury prevention and help us meet rehab or training goals.

💫Note - The single leg RDL, the single leg squat and the side plank ranked highly across all three gluteal regions studied🌟.
