If our bodies do not feel safe, it is very difficult for us to heal. Sometimes that is the missing piece in the puzzle.
✅Diet & lifestyle are on point - yet your symptoms are not improving?
Consider a nervous system locked on high alert - keeping you safe from a wild wilder beast or maybe just an overflowing, never ending to do list - the nervous system doesn't always understand the difference, so to be sure it had better not waste any valuable energy reserves digesting, resting or repairing. Best keep adrenaline and cortisol high - just to be sure!
❌The outcome is a body locked in fight or flight, often for years & wondering why symptoms never resolve no matter what you seem to do....
Sometimes in clinic, symptoms are not addressed until the nervous system has time to decompress, to recalibrate, to breathe...
Think magnesium, more magnesium, nervine herbs, adaptogenic herbs & a little more magnesium for good measure....

Often we think we know what we want.
We say we know what we want.
But do our actions or footsteps towards or away match what we want.
Take health or fitness - we say all the right things but do we do all the right things?
Most of our lives look the way they do because of the actions or inactions we take every day, not luck, not genetics, not finances. Add things that take you closer to your goal, not away from it. And if you don't know where to start, start slowly with one salad, one walk, one extra litre of water, a half hour earlier to bed... Make that part of your habits then add the next thing you need to take you closer to where you desire to be...

Gut health & weight loss -
Gut health is our key to better health & just a half hour daily of light exercise is enough to impact gut health. For years we have been told to move more to burn calories, but in reality that is only part of the issue. Moving means a better gut microbiome profile in general but particularly when it comes to weight management microbes!

Your gut lining is your body’s front door & it is more powerful than you think...

Most people talk about “gut health”… But almost no one talks about the gut epithelium — the thin, intelligent layer that decides what gets into your body and what doesn’t. This tiny barrier has a HUGE impact on your immune system.

When your gut epithelium is strong, it keeps microbes, toxins, and irritants exactly where they belong — out of your bloodstream.
Your immune system stays calm and focused.
But when that barrier becomes leaky or inflamed -
❌Your immune system gets bombarded with signals it was never meant to see. ❌We react to foods that really shouldn't affect us...
❌This triggers chronic inflammation, fatigue, skin flares, joint pain, pain, IBS, and immune overactivation. A damaged gut lining = an overreactive immune system.

The good news?
You can strengthen your gut epithelium through diet — fibre, polyphenols, sulforaphane-rich veggies, and gut-supportive nutrients all help rebuild that protective barrier. You are then able to close the front door to unwanted visitors whilst leaving it open to absorb the nutrients your body is crying out for to support your health & wellbeing...

This is important to understand.... often the reason for your consultation is a symptom caused or made worse by a dysregulated nervous system. Pain, insomnia, IBS, infertility, reflux, hormonal imbalances, acne - pretty much any condition will not improve often if you simply try to band aid the symptom.
The magic happens when the body is regulated, feels safe, has good nutrition, good sleep etc. then the healing can begin...

Let’s consider something most people overlook when trying to lose weight… your gut health....Most people focus on calories in and calories out - but that is not the whole picture. The types of foods matter. Does the food improve gut health or derail it?
- If your gut isn’t happy, your metabolism, cravings, energy, and even your mood won’t be either. As someone who’s spent years studying gut health and how it shapes the way our bodies work, I can tell you this with confidence: weight loss doesn’t start in the gym — it starts in the gut.

Here’s what I see over and over again:
- An imbalanced gut leads to inflammation, and inflammation makes it harder for your body to release stored fat.
- Poor digestion means poor nutrient absorption, so even “healthy eating” doesn’t work the way it should.
- Gut bacteria directly influence hunger hormones, which is why some people constantly crave sugar or feel hungry even after eating.
- A healthy gut leads to a calmer nervous system, and when stress drops, fat loss becomes dramatically easier. Goodbye cortisol belly.
- The majority of our neurotransmitters are made & signaled via the gut. Hello serotonin.
- A dysregulated gut makes it difficult to eat the healthy foods that help you loose weight. They cause bloating, pain & reflux - when they really shouldn't.

The moment people start supporting their gut — with the right foods, habits, and daily routines — everything shifts.
Less bloating. More energy. Better mood. And yes… weight finally starts to move.

If you’ve been doing “all the right things” and still struggling, it’s not your willpower.
It’s your gut begging for help.
Your healthiest, happiest body starts from the inside out.

I see a lot of people who avoid foods such as legumes or lentils.
This is not a great long term plan, even though it can be helpful short term, in the longer term these foods are beneficial for gut diversity. If you are sensitive then addressing digestion & gut integrity as well as bacteria levels is a better plan than eliminating these foods completely. A diverse gut is key to health & excluding lots of healthy foods is never a good long term strategy even if sometimes it feels that way...
