π€ Physios at Horizon love the shrimp squat!
The shrimp squat is a challenging single-leg exercise that tests strength across the hip, knee and ankle, as well as hip and ankle mobility, balance and stability.
Itβs also a fun (and humbling) challenge!
So, what are we looking for?
- Hands across the chest β no help from the arms or momentum
- Single-leg drive β all the strength comes from the planted leg
- Back foot lifted β the non-working leg stays off the floor
- Slow and controlled β control the lowering phase and drive back up through the working leg
These qualities are important for both sport and everyday movement, from running, jumping and changing direction to stairs, squatting and getting up from the floor.
