🚨 Myth Monday 🚨
Myth: Rest is best when you’re injured.
While some injuries may need a period of rest or protection, complete rest isn’t always the answer!
For many musculoskeletal injuries, a gradual and controlled return to movement can form an important part of recovery.
And returning to activity doesn’t necessarily mean jumping straight back into your normal training. Sometimes it’s about modifying what you’re already doing — adjusting the load, intensity, range or exercise — rather than stopping altogether.
In fact, research in Achilles tendinopathy has shown that people were able to continue pain-monitored running and jumping alongside a progressive loading program without poorer outcomes compared with those who stopped those activities. (PubMed)
The right amount of activity will depend on the injury and the individual — which is why rehab isn’t one-size-fits-all. 💙
