By the time you’ve arrived at your appointment you’ve probably already been awake for hours.
You’ve navigated breakfast, packed lunchboxes, negotiated with children, found missing shoes, managed emotions and made it through school drop.
Or maybe you’ve woken to an alarm that was a little too early, a workout squeezed in, a long commute, meetings before 9am or simply juggling the demands of a busy life.
Either way, that’s a lot for one nervous system before most people have started work.
When we’re constantly rushing from one task to the next our bodies can stay in a heightened ‘go go go’ state. While that’s incredibly useful in short bursts, spending too much time there can leave us feeling tense, exhausted, short tempered and like we’re running on empty.
Creating moments where your nervous system feels safe enough to slow down matters. Sometimes that’s movement. Sometimes it’s a walk outside. Sometimes it’s taking a few deep breaths. And sometimes it’s simply lying down for a few quiet minutes whilst someone takes care of you and your nervous system.
Because when you feel more regulated it’s often easier to show up as the parent, partner, friend and person you want to be.
Feel more you 🧡
