πŸ”Ή Unexplained weight loss
πŸ”Ή Ongoing fatigue
πŸ”Ή Changes in urination
πŸ”Ή Persistent pain
πŸ”Ή Shortness of breath
πŸ”Ή Changes in bowel habits
πŸ”Ή New lumps or skin changes

πŸ’‰ PNEUMONIA VACCINE UPDATE – IMPORTANT CHANGES FROM 1 JULY 2026 πŸ’‰

From 1 July 2026, there will be an important update to the National Immunisation Program (NIP) for pneumococcal (pneumonia) vaccination.

A new vaccine, Capvaxive (21-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine / 21vPCV), will be introduced and will replace Prevenar 13 and Pneumovax 23 for eligible adults under the NIP.

βœ… Capvaxive is FREE under the NIP for:
β€’ Adults aged 65 years and over
β€’ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults aged 25 years and over
β€’ Adults aged 18 years and over with eligible medical conditions that increase their risk of severe pneumococcal disease

Even if you have previously received a pneumococcal vaccine such as Prevenar 13 or Pneumovax 23, you may still be eligible for Capvaxive, provided it has been at least 12 months since your last pneumococcal vaccine.

Pneumococcal disease can cause serious infections such as:
🫁 Pneumonia
🧠 Meningitis
🩸 Bloodstream infections (sepsis)

Vaccination is one of the best ways to help protect yourself and reduce the risk of severe illness.

If you’re unsure whether you’re eligible, speak with your doctor or nurse.

πŸ’™ WEDNESDAY – Men's Health Week: Look After Your Heart

Heart disease remains one of the leading causes of illness in Australian men.

The good news? Many risk factors can be managed.

This week, challenge yourself to:
❀️ Go for a 30-minute walk
❀️ Check your blood pressure
❀️ Eat more fruit and vegetables
❀️ Cut back on smoking or va**ng
❀️ Book a heart health assessment

Small changes today can make a big difference tomorrow.

πŸ’™ TUESDAY – Men's Health Week: It's Okay to Talk

Men's mental health matters.

Many men feel pressure to "just get on with it" when life gets tough, but talking about stress, anxiety, depression or burnout is a sign of strengthβ€”not weakness.

If you're struggling, you don't have to face it alone.

Signs it may be time to seek support:
β–ͺ Feeling overwhelmed or constantly stressed
β–ͺ Changes in sleep
β–ͺ Loss of interest in things you enjoy
β–ͺ Increased irritability or anger
β–ͺ Feeling isolated

A conversation with your GP can be the first step.

πŸ’™ MONDAY – Men's Health Week: Start With a Check-Up

When was your last health check?

Many common health conditions, including high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol and some cancers, can develop without obvious symptoms.

A simple check-up with your GP can help identify problems early and keep you on track for better health.

βœ… Blood pressure check
βœ… Diabetes screening
βœ… Cholesterol review
βœ… Medication review
βœ… Preventive health advice

Your health is worth making time for.

They work long hours, face challenging situations, and make personal sacrifices to keep our communities safe. Their courage, compassion, professionalism, and commitment do not go unnoticed.

To all first respondersβ€”past and presentβ€”thank you for your service, your resilience, and the difference you make every single day.

Please take a moment today to thank a first responder in your community. πŸ’™πŸš’πŸš‘πŸš“

⚠️ SHINGLES CASES ON THE RISE ⚠️

We are seeing increasing numbers of shingles cases across Victoria, including within our local Shepparton community.

Shingles is caused by the reactivation of the chickenpox virus and can result in a painful blistering rash, nerve pain, and, in some cases, long-term complications that can persist for months or even years.

The best way to protect yourself and your loved ones is through vaccination.

βœ… The National Immunisation Program (NIP) provides free Shingrix vaccination for:
β€’ Adults aged 65 years and over
β€’ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50 years and over
β€’ Eligible immunocompromised individuals aged 18 years and over

Even if you've had shingles before, vaccination may still be recommended to help reduce the risk of future episodes.

Common symptoms of shingles include:
β€’ Pain, burning, or tingling on one side of the body
β€’ A blistering rash
β€’ Itching
β€’ Sensitivity to touch
β€’ Ongoing nerve pain after the rash resolves

If you think you may be eligible for a shingles vaccine, speak with your doctor or nurse.
