🎣 **All Abilities Fishing Program** 🐟

Our All Abilities Fishing Program is all about getting outdoors, having fun and enjoying the experience of fishing in a welcoming and inclusive environment, no matter your ability or experience.

Participants have the opportunity to learn new skills, build confidence, develop independence and coordination, and enjoy spending time with others. From learning about fishing equipment and safety to caring for our environment, there’s plenty to discover along the way.

Most importantly, it’s about making connections, building friendships, celebrating achievements and enjoying the simple pleasure of a day out fishing together. 💙🌿

💚 Sharing skills, stories and plenty of laughs! 🛠️

Our partnership with the residents of the Kensington Gardens Residents’ Workshop has been such a wonderful experience for our participants.

Every fortnight, our participants join Rob, Bob, Murray, Graeme and Peter to work on projects, learn new skills, share stories and build genuine connections. It’s a wonderful example of multigenerational connections, with people of different ages learning from each other and sharing their experiences. 😊

A huge thank you to the workshop residents for welcoming us so warmly and sharing their time, skills and knowledge with us.

🤍 Celebrating White Cane Day at Shepparton Access! 🦯

Last week, we celebrated White Cane Day by giving our participants an insight into what it can be like to live with vision impairment, helping build understanding, awareness and empathy.

We all wore white and our Eco Catering group got busy in the kitchen, preparing a delicious pasta lunch for everyone to enjoy! 🍝

It was a great opportunity to learn something new, appreciate the importance of accessibility and inclusion, and come together over a shared meal. 💚

Last night, we were honoured to attend a special event at SAM, where we listened to Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of Australia, speak about the importance of connection, kindness and building strong communities. 💛

A highlight of the evening was Amy and Geoffrey having the opportunity to personally meet and chat with the Governor-General! 🌟

At Shepparton Access, we believe inclusion is more than words — it’s about creating real opportunities for people to participate, connect and be valued members of their community. By attending events like this together, we’re putting inclusion into practice and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to be part of meaningful experiences. ❤️

🔧🔧 Building Independence

This group wanted to take their practical learning beyond the usual activities and focus on problem-solving and understanding how things work.

They’ve been identifying things around Access that need fixing — from missing screws and busted trolley tyres to dripping taps — then working out what tools they need and how to fix them together.

Their latest project? Pulling apart a toaster to discover what’s inside and how it actually makes toast! 🔍🍞🔍🍞

🏀 Basketball is a highlight for our participants!

It’s fantastic to see everyone getting active, building their skills and having fun together. Participants are becoming more confident with dribbling and shooting, while also improving their hand-eye coordination, fitness and teamwork.

It’s also a great opportunity to build friendships, connect with others and enjoy being part of a team. Lots of skills, plenty of laughs and a whole lot of fun! 🏀😊

✨ A highlight of our week! ✨

We feel so lucky to be able to share the skills and creativity of some truly amazing local artists with our participants.

Every second Wednesday, the wonderful Kensington Gardens craft group welcomes us with open arms. Yvonne, Wendy, Adrienne and Lorraine generously share their time, knowledge and talents with our participants, helping them explore new skills and create some fantastic projects.

From stress balls and card holders to bowl cozies, crochet bags and so much more — there has been plenty of creativity happening! 🧶🎨

We are so grateful for community partnerships like this that create opportunities for our participants to learn, connect and have fun.

Thank you to the amazing ladies at Kensington Gardens for making us feel so welcome each visit! ❤️👏
