What else could be true?

Sometimes the story in our heads is accurate.
Sometimes it’s simply the fastest explanation our brain could find for an uncomfortable gap.

Curiosity gives the other person room to own their story.

I'm trying to replace false certainty with a different question:

What else could be true?

It doesn’t mean ignoring my instincts or pretending everything has endless explanations. It means noticing when I’ve filled in information I was never actually given.

Can both be true?
Can we be proud and disappointed?
Grateful and hurt?
Certain about one thing and deeply uncertain about another?

Maybe we don't always need to decide which feeling gets to win.

I used to think uncomfortable feelings needed resolving.

That if I could understand them, explain them, or find the right answer, I could make the discomfort disappear.

I'm slowly learning that sometimes there isn't an answer to find.

Sometimes the complexity just needs room.

Sometimes the hardest part isn't the feeling itself but the pressure to decide which feeling is the “right” one.
