Journey Strong We are all on a journey in one form or another. Not all journeys are smooth sailing, but they can all be opportunities to learn and grow.

There are many valid reasons for not training, but one which I hear a lot is, "I am not fit enough. I will start when I get fitter." If this is you, then you are sort of missing the point.

The purpose of training is to improve your fitness, no matter what your starting point is.

If you are waiting to get fit before you start training, then it is like cleaning the house before the cleaner comes.

Chances are, you are just worried about how you will look to others, or you are anxious about holding everyone else up.

To both of these, I say, don't stress. No one who is already training will judge your performance. They will, in fact, respect you for showing up.

And as far as holding everyone else up goes, you should know that every workout will be catered to suit your level, so you will likely finish when everyone else does.

Every person who trains with Journey Strong has started at a level well below where they are now. The journey to improve their fitness has happened over time. The most important thing you can do is actually turn up for your first session.

You will find that you are welcomed into the group, and all of your efforts will be supported by not only me but also your fellow bootcampers.

With consistency, you will improve your fitness, and you will receive a mental, emotional, and maybe even a spiritual boost by embracing the beauty of nature and all it has to offer whilst you chip away at the workouts.

Sun, surf, fresh air, wildlife, and friends. Its a good combo.

Come on down. Bring a friend for moral support if you need to. Give it a go and experience the benefits for yourself.

6.30am on Tuesday and Tursday.
7.00am on Saturday.

$15 a session or get a $110 10-pass.

Meet on Narrawallee Beach opposite Parkinson Street.

Dogs are welcome 😊

It was such an unexpectedly mild morning today down at Naz. We couldn't have asked for a better start to the day.

Happy birthday to who decided doing some movement at sunrise on the beach with friends would be a good way to kick off her special day. And yes, her birthday burpees were completed 👌🏽

Have a great day, everyone!

It was a cracking sesh in the Garage this arvo. The vibes were up, as everyone hit some heavy squats a deads, before a brutal 3 course AMRAP of:
3 min max Bike cals
-rest 1 min-
3 min max Ski cals
-rest 1 min-
3 min max rope climbs 🔥

Big shout out to young Murph, who hit 10 x 90kg deads, and the big man Luke making his inaugural appearance.

When the temperature drops outside, it makes a lot of us feel like hibernating indoors and waiting it out till sunny and longer days return. Exercise will usually take a back seat but if you decide to brave the cold and leave the electric heater behind you will soon find training in cold weather can bring plenty of benefits to not just your body but your mind too.
~
Doing exercise will not only help you fight off any symptoms of a cold or flu but reduce the likelihood of you even being affected. Your immune system works harder and is more prepared to fight off foreign invaders and their nasty symptoms.
~
Cold weather forces your body to work harder during training, and this also applies to your cardiovascular system. As the heart works harder to pump blood around the body during cold weather exercise, this invigorating workout helps to keep your heart health in tip-top shape
~
Exercise can boost your mood at any time of year, but it has a particularly profound effect during winter, sending those all-important feel-good hormones soaring, and keeping the winter blues at bay. In fact, research has shown that a good workout can be up to four times more effective than taking antidepressants, for improving symptoms of depression. As well as being an effective mood booster and pick-me-up, getting outdoors in the fresh air in cold weather can help replenish vitamin D levels in the skin.
~
Think of a wintertime workout as a supercharged version of your normal sweat session, why? Because whatever workout you do, the cold weather will max out your caloric burn. This is due to the body working much harder to keep its core temperature regulated. As the body works to stay warm, the metabolism is kicked into overdrive and your body burns through more calories and fat.

I consider myself lucky to have a community who keep turning up to train, no matter the weather - apparently, it was freezing this morning.

I also consider myself lucky to have people who can step up when I am away to ensure training still happens.

People like
(Dan) who I trust to coach the crew in my absence, and (Katie), who is always on hand with her trusty whiteboard to relay my workouts to the willing.

Thank you, guys. It is very much appreciated.

I will be back on board this coming Monday. Garage sessions and Beach sessions will be back to normal. I look forward to seeing you all again.

Another cold morning and another opportunity to build resilience, touch base with Mother Nature, and move our bodies.

We truly are so lucky to be able to train in such a beautiful part of the world.
