This is about so much more than yoga.

I feel incredibly privileged to be part of your world.

Thank you for showing up and sharing your joys and your heartbreaks. Your good days, your hard days, and the days you never want to experience again.

Yoga doesn’t take away the pain.
It doesn’t make grief disappear.
It doesn’t fix a difficult season or make everything okay.

But community can hold you through it.

Recovering from surgery? Someone here has been through it too.

Navigating mental health challenges? We see you. We feel you. You don’t have to explain everything.

Feeling stiff, sore or like your body is changing? We’re right there with you. We’re all getting older together.

Celebrating a wedding, a birth, a new job or simply a really good week? We’ll celebrate with you.

And sometimes you just turn up because you’re hungover, exhausted, overwhelmed…

Or because you simply don’t want to be alone with your thoughts or feelings.

And that’s okay too.

This is what I love about our community.

We move together.
We breathe together.
We laugh together.
Sometimes we cry together.

But you always have full autonomy to move like you.

Take what you need.
Rest when you need.
Arrive when you can.
Leave when you need to.

And stay afterwards if you want to sit in the shade, have a chat and connect for a little longer.

And for those of you thinking, “I don't do other people. I'm not really social…”

Neither are the majority of the people in this group.

And perhaps that’s what makes the connection so special. It doesn’t have to be big conversations or instant friendships.

Sometimes it’s simply a smile to a familiar face.

A little share, if you like. A quiet listen if you don’t.

A “how are you?”
A “see you next week.”
A little moment of being seen.

These things take time.

You don’t have to walk in and suddenly become part of everything.

Just keep showing up as you are.

There is no pressure to connect in a particular way.

You are always welcome here.
There is a place for you here.

Because this isn’t just yoga.

It’s local people supporting local people.
It’s shared experiences.
It’s kindness.

It’s knowing that someone nearby has probably walked a little of the same path.

You showing up as yourself gives everyone around you permission to do the same.

You are our tribe.

And I feel incredibly grateful that I get to be part of it.

So thank you.

From Sparkling Soul Yoga,
from my heart to yours.

We can't stop ageing. But we can influence how we age.

I've been thinking a lot about ageing lately.

Not about trying to look younger.

Not about fighting every wrinkle or desperately holding onto the body we had 20 years ago.

But about something much more important:

How do I want to feel as I get older?

Strong enough to carry the groceries.

Mobile enough to get down on the floor and back up again.

Balanced enough to trust my body.

Connected enough to keep doing the things I love.

And mentally well enough to continue finding joy, purpose and curiosity in my life.

Because ageing isn't something we can avoid.

But there are things we can influence.

How we move.
How we nourish ourselves.
How we manage stress.
How we stay connected.
How we challenge our bodies and our minds.
And perhaps most importantly, how we think about getting older.

Yoga is one small part of that picture.

It's not about staying young.

It's about staying engaged with life.

And that's why I wrote my latest blog about healthy ageing — because I think we need to change the conversation from fighting ageing to supporting ourselves as we age.

It's never too late to start.

And your future self is worth investing in. 🤍

I've shared the full article here if you'd like to read it:

Are you happy about ageing?

I genuinely want to know.

Because I've reached the point where I think I've accepted that I'm ageing.

I understand that my body will change.
I understand that I won't look 30 forever.
I understand that strength, mobility, health and wellbeing matter far more than trying to hold onto a version of myself that no longer exists.

But then…

This week I'm signing Power of Attorney papers for my parents.

And suddenly ageing has hit a little differently.

My parents are healthy. They're alive and well. They still travel. They still live independently.

And I am incredibly grateful for that.

But as I sat there signing those papers, I couldn't help thinking:

For how much longer?

We talk a lot about ageing in place — staying at home, maintaining independence, keeping up the daily routines, doing the shopping, cooking, cleaning, gardening and looking after the house for as long as possible.

And there is absolutely value in that.

Home, routine, purpose, movement and social connection can all contribute to wellbeing as we age. But research also tells us that ageing in place shouldn't be a one-size-fits-all approach.

So what if we started asking a different question?

What does ageing well actually look like for YOU?

Because I'm not sure I want my future to be about maintaining a house simply because that's what we've always done.

What if I don't want to cook every night?

What if I don't want to spend my later years worrying about groceries, washing, mowing lawns and maintaining a house?

What if I want to wake up somewhere different?

What if I want people around me.

Friends to have dinner with.

Activities to join.

Places to explore.

A community around me without necessarily having to maintain the infrastructure of a home.

And then I discovered The World - a privately owned residential ship where people actually buy a residence and travel around the world.

And I'm not going to lie…

I'm kind of leaning towards it.

Not because I don't value home.

But because perhaps ageing well isn't about holding onto the life we've always had.

Perhaps it's about having the freedom to create a life that works for the person we're becoming.

And perhaps the real goal isn't simply living longer.

Maybe it's living well for as long as we can.

So I'm curious:

❤️ Are you happy about ageing?

🌿 What are you doing now to support the person you'll become?

🏡 Do you want to stay in your current home for as long as possible?

🌏 Or could you imagine a completely different way of living later in life?

And perhaps the biggest question…

Have you actually thought about what you WANT your later years to look like?

I'd genuinely love to hear your thoughts.

I love looking at “self” as a whole and remembering that we are so, so much more than just our physical body.

Our body, mind, heart and energy are all connected and each deserves just as much attention and care as one another.

Sometimes we need movement. Sometimes we need rest. Sometimes we need connections quiet, nourishment or simply a moment to pause.

So today, instead of asking “what should I be doing?” Try asking “what does my whole self need?” ✨

This morning I put on a jacket I bought 14 years ago.

I couldn’t do up the buttons.

And you know what?

The jacket didn’t shrink.

My body has changed.

I could have spiralled.

14 years ago, I probably would have.

I might have spent the day criticising my body, restricting what I ate, exercising a little more to “make up for it”, or even cried.

The number on the scales or the way my clothes fitted could determine my mood.

And, if I’m really honest, my sense of worth.

But something has changed.

My relationship with my body.

I’m 52 now. My body is changing. Maybe it’s menopause. Maybe it’s the years of teaching yoga. Maybe it’s simply ageing.

And maybe, just maybe, it’s because I’m no longer starving myself to fit into a particular version of what I thought my body should be.

Whatever the reason, I don't feel the need to fight it.

Yoga has helped me develop a different kind of relationship with my body.

One based less on how it looks and more on what it allows me to experience.

I am grateful for my body.

For its strength.

For its resilience.

For its ability to move, breathe, stretch, rest, recover and carry me through this life.

And I’ve learned that nothing stays the same.

Our bodies change.

Our lives change.

Our priorities change.

And that isn't failure.

I am actually incredibly grateful that I am not the woman I was 14 years ago.

She was incredibly hard on herself.

She believed she needed to be smaller to be worthy.

She measured herself against a number on a scale and the size of her clothes.

I don't want to go back there.

So today, I took off the jacket.

I put on something that fits.

And I got on with my day.

Because your size does not determine your worth.

Your values do.

Your kindness.

Your courage.

Your compassion.

Your integrity.

The way you show up for yourself and others.

Those are the things that matter.

And perhaps that's one of the most beautiful things about getting older:

Learning that your body was never the problem.

You were simply taught to believe it was.

Yoga doesn't have to cure you.

I don't believe yoga is a cure-all.

It doesn't mean we won't get sick.
It doesn't mean we won't experience grief, stress, pain, ageing or difficult seasons of life.

And it certainly doesn't mean we will always feel calm.

But yoga can give us something incredibly valuable:

a different perspective.

Over time, yoga can teach us how to pause before we react.

How to breathe when life feels overwhelming.

How to become grounded when our thoughts are pulling us in every direction.

How to notice what we are feeling without immediately being consumed by it.

How to develop discernment - what deserves our energy, what doesn't, when to speak and when to listen, when to hold on and when to let go.

And perhaps most importantly, yoga can help us look beyond the surface.

What we look like isn't the most important thing about us.

How flexible we are isn't the most important thing about us.

How we perform isn't the most important thing about us.

How we speak.
How we behave.
How we treat ourselves.
How we treat other people.
How we respond when life doesn't go according to plan.

These things matter.

Yoga gives us practices that can support our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing - movement, breath, mindfulness, meditation, self-awareness, compassion and connection.

Not because these things make us immune to life's challenges.

But because they can give us more resources to meet them.

Maybe that is one of the greatest gifts of yoga.

It doesn't necessarily change the life we are living.

It can change the way we see it.

And sometimes, a change in perspective changes everything.

Reset & Rise: A different way to meet stress

What if managing stress isn't about becoming someone who never feels stressed? Because life will still happen.

There will still be busy days, difficult conversations, unexpected challenges and moments when everything feels like a little too much.

Reset & Rise isn't about fixing you.

It's about giving you practical tools to help you navigate those moments differently.

Through yoga, breathwork, mindfulness and intentional movement, we'll explore ways to:
✨ recognise what is happening in your body when stress rises
✨ create a pause before automatically reacting
✨ use your breath to help regulate your nervous system
✨ become more grounded when your mind feels overwhelmed
✨ develop greater awareness of your needs and boundaries
✨ build practices that support your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing

Because the goal isn't to eliminate stress from our lives.

It's to build our capacity to meet it.
To pause.
To breathe.
To reset.
And then, when we're ready, to rise again.

Join me for Reset & Rise - a yoga masterclass for stress and overwhelm.

A space to slow down, reconnect with yourself and leave with practical tools you can take beyond the mat and into everyday life.

16/08/2026

I notice the things you don't think anyone notices.

The days when you don't quite meet my eyes.

The change in your posture.

The way you apologise for needing to modify.

The silence.

The days when simply showing up feels like an enormous achievement.

Sometimes you share with me about your grief, your health concerns, your injuries, your worries, your stories.

And sometimes you don't share anything at all.

But I might sense that today isn't a standing day.

That perhaps we need more Child's Pose, more forward folds, more stillness, or simply a slower practice.

Please know this:

I feel you.

And my heart goes out to you.

But I also think about you on the days I don't see you.

When your alarm goes off for class and you turn it off and fall back asleep.

When the intention is there, but your body simply isn't willing.

When you wanted to get on your mat, but everything inside you said, not today.

Please know I don't see that as you giving up.

Sometimes listening to your body is the practice.

And even when you're not on your mat, I'm sending you love.

I wish I could help you more.

I wish I could take some of the weight away.

But I also know the importance of knowing my limits and standing firmly behind them.

I've worked in the medical field for 25 years, with the last 15 years in mental health.

That experience has taught me something incredibly important:

Care doesn't mean having all the answers.

I'm not your doctor.
I'm not your psychologist.
I'm not your physiotherapist.

I'm your yoga teacher.

And my role isn't to fix you.

I can't promise you that everything will be alright.

Because sometimes I don't know.

I can't tell you that the grief will disappear, that your body will suddenly feel better, or that the thing you're carrying will magically become easier.

But I can walk beside you for a little while.

I can be here when you're ready.

I can offer you a place to breathe, to move, to rest, to be still.

I can remind you that you don't have to push through everything.

And I can meet you exactly where you are - without judgement, without expectation, and without needing you to be anything other than yourself that day.

Because sometimes we don't need someone to tell us that everything will be okay.

Sometimes we just need someone willing to sit beside us in the uncertainty.

You don't have to tell me your whole story for me to care.

I may not always know what you're carrying.

But I see you.

I feel you.

And whether you're standing on your mat, resting in Child's Pose, or still tucked up in bed when class begins...

I hope you know that you are cared for.
