"Thank you so much for all the support. You have helped a lot of people grow to be better people. You are all amazing!"
It's feedback like this that helped the Dakabin Youth Hub team (Alysha Steel, pictured from left, Alkyra Roginson-Hopkins, Heidi Cable and Michelle Maunder) secure the Children's Choice Team Award at our recent staff Excellence Awards for 2026.
Nominated by the young people they support at Dakabin State High School, this award recognises the team's commitment to creating a safe and welcoming space where young people feel supported, respected and empowered.
Whether it's helping someone through a tough day, building confidence, developing leadership skills or supporting pathways to education and wellbeing, the team's impact reaches beyond the hub's walls.
Opened in 2025, the purpose-built facility, built within the grounds of Dakabin State High School was developed through a partnership between Children’s Health Queensland and the of Education.
Co-designed with students and the school community, the Hub aims to provide a space for students to meet, connect with health and social services when they need them, and access educational and training programs that support their long-term growth and wellbeing.
