Starts tomorrow morning - still 2 places left 🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️. Are you ready for 2022? Do you know what's around the corner? How do you feel about planting some metaphorical flowers with me, so that we can at least know to expect colour, beauty and vibrancy in 2022! We'll send some love to your nervous system and give it what it needs to normalise, to settle. Each Saturday morning for 4 weeks, we'll find calm through engaging our parasympathetic nervous system in the safe, healing yoga room above the Clarence Kitchen Collective. We'll position our bodies gently, and slowly. We'll take time to reflect and process. We'll come away softer, sweeter and more open to this beautiful life. Wear your comfiest clothes and bring your favourite pillow, 2 blankets/towels & a notebook. No doubt, you'll need to bring your mask, too, but we won't be breathing heavily, we'll just be breathing mindfully, safely. Please reserve a spot by texting or calling Lauren on 0432 672 569. People often ask me how to meditate. I teach a technique using a mantra, but there are plenty of ways to create healthy space for yourself... here’s one I read about recently:
💦 Mindful Hydration 💦

1️⃣ Create intention – decide that you want to take a mental break. Get up and find a safe place where you can pay no attention to other things and are 100 per cent safe. Get water in your bottle or glass (which is also your 'anchor'), sit, and get comfortable. Bring your attention inside and give yourself permission to take one minute for yourself. Take three deep breaths and exhale slowly for each breath to empty your lungs, and on the last breath put your hand on your bottle (your anchor).

2️⃣ Clear your screen – after your third breath, shift your gaze to the water. Notice the water. Examine it (e.g., how pure and clear it is, how calm it is). This helps to prepare your mind for your practice. If your mind is jumping around throughout any step, it's okay. Be patient; this is normal. This step is to be used to transition your mind from the busy world to the now. Allow yourself to be present in the now moment.

3️⃣ Practice – it's now time to practice. Take the water to your mouth slowly and take a mouthful. Pay attention to the water and the space it fills in your mouth. Allow the water to go down your throat slowly. Notice the slow, clear, peaceful water falling down your throat with each drink. Between each mouthful, take a deep breath and exhale. Focus on the water. When your mind jumps around, simply refocus on this simple activity and notice the water – nothing more.

By simply practicing this 90-second mindful hydration activity – with intention – you have an opportunity to positively impact both your physical and mental health, one mouthful of water at a time. Once you master this microskill, each drink of water is a found opportunity.

"When our thoughts are scattered in several directions at once and we struggle to be conscious of what we are doing or why, it is time to centre ourselves. When we centre ourselves, we begin by acknowledging that we have become spread too thin and we are no longer unified inside. Our thoughts might be out of sync with our feelings, and our actions may be out of sync with both.

The main signs that we need to centre ourselves are scattered thoughts and a feeling of disconnection or numbness, as if we are no longer able to take anything in or give anything out. In addition, we may feel unfocused and not present in our bodies. Centring ourselves is a way of coming to terms with all the different energies within us and drawing them back into ourselves.

We naturally know how to centre ourselves when we take a deep breath, for example, before making a big announcement or doing something big. Another way to centre ourselves is to sit down and engage in breath meditation. Our breath flows into our centre and out from our centre, and this process can serve as a template for all of our interactions in the world. In conversations, we can take what our friends and children and loved ones are saying into the centre of our beings and respond from the centre.

From a place of centredness, we can begin fresh, directing ourselves outward in a more intentional way" - DailyOm.
