๐ R U OK? DAY | THURSDAY 10 SEPTEMBER ๐
Sometimes โIโm fineโ means "Iโm fine".
And sometimes it means "I donโt really know how to explain whatโs going on".
This R U OK? Day, weโre reminding young people, families, friends and our community that you donโt have to wait for someone to be falling apart before you check in.
At headspace Hedland, we know that mental health isnโt always obvious. Someone can be laughing with their mates, going to school or work, posting online and still be having a really tough time.
So if someoneโs been on your mind, ๐ask.
Not once. Not just today. ANY DAY. ๐
You donโt need to be a counsellor.
You donโt need to have all the answers.
You donโt need to fix everything.
You can simply:
๐ Ask - โAre you OK?โ
๐ Listen - without judgement
๐ฌ Keep the conversation going
๐ค Connect them with support, if they need a little extra help
And remember, checking in with someone else is important, but you count too.
If youโre aged 12โ25 and things arenโt feeling quite right, you can reach out to headspace Hedland. You can talk to us about your mental health, relationships, school or work, alcohol and other drugs, sexual and physical health or anything else thatโs getting in the way of feeling like yourself.
