Ten years after undergoing breast augmentation with Dr Layt, this patient returned for a breast implant review through our Breast Implant Check Clinic (BICC).

She had recently noticed an area of discomfort on the outer right breast, which had since resolved, but attended for assessment of a remaining palpable area.

Clinical examination was performed and her recent MRI was reviewed. Both implants were intact, with no evidence of rupture or leakage.

The patient also reported being happy with the appearance of her breasts 10 years following her original surgery.

In accordance with the medical guidelines, all surgical or invasive procedures carry risks and potential complications (drlayt.com/surgery-risks-and-complications/). These guidelines recommend seeking a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner prior to proceeding with surgery.

Every patient is an individual and therefore final surgical results will vary from patient to patient. Results, Risks, and Recovery are dependent on factors Pre and Postoperatively, including, but not limited to, genetics, diet, and exercise.

This case is also a useful reminder that breast implants do not automatically require replacement when they reach 10 years. Implants are not lifetime devices, and whether replacement or further surgery is required depends on the individual, their implants, clinical findings, symptoms and appropriate imaging. Ongoing breast and implant monitoring remains important, even when there are no significant concerns.

A few days of learning, connecting and plenty of conversation for Nurse Maddi at Aesthetics 2026 in Sydney.

Joining Nurse Brooke at this year’s conference, Maddi spent time exploring the latest thinking across facial anatomy, treatment planning, ageing and changes within the facial fat layers, as well as complication management and evolving approaches within aesthetic medicine.

For Maddi, ongoing education is an important part of her role, taking the opportunity to listen to different perspectives, question what’s changing and continue building on her clinical knowledge.

At The Layt Clinic, we are committed to staying at the forefront of advancements in plastic surgery, continually evaluating new techniques supported by clinical evidence.

The Preservé technique is a tissue-preserving approach to breast augmentation that aims to minimise disruption to the breast during implant placement.

If you’re considering breast augmentation, a consultation provides an opportunity to discuss your goals, available treatment options, and whether the Preservé technique may be suitable for your individual circumstances.

This patient presented seeking breast augmentation to increase breast volume while maintaining proportions suited to her frame.

Following consultation and clinical assessment, she underwent bilateral breast augmentation using smooth round Motiva implants placed in a subpectoral position via an inframammary fold incision.

To account for pre-existing anatomical differences, different implant sizes were selected for each breast as part of her individualised surgical plan.

Breast augmentation procedures are tailored to the individual. Implant selection, sizing and placement depend on anatomy, tissue characteristics and patient goals, and can only be determined following a thorough consultation and clinical examination.

This patient presented with concerns regarding age-related changes to the lower face and neck.

Following consultation and clinical assessment, she underwent a face and neck lift. The procedure involved repositioning the deeper facial tissues and addressing excess skin through carefully planned incisions around the ears and beneath the chin.

Face and neck lift procedures are tailored to the individual. The most appropriate surgical approach depends on factors including facial anatomy, skin quality and treatment goals, and can only be determined following a thorough consultation and clinical examination.

20 years. Two incredible women. One very grateful team. 💛
