At 22, where your hairline sits today might not be where it settles by 35. That's why the first step with a younger patient isn't always the same as it is for someone whose loss has stabilised.

Dr Adam explains why he usually takes a different first step with younger patients, and why a long-term plan matters.

2,933 grafts. 7,443 hairs. A plan built around a receding hairline, and the hair this patient already had.

Before any grafts are placed, Dr Gamze Aksakal maps out the new hairline: where each graft will sit, the direction it will grow and how it relates to the surrounding hair.
These images were taken on the day of the procedure at our Brisbane clinic, before treatment began and straight afterwards. From here, the transplanted follicles go through a natural cycle of recovery and regrowth.

Any changes tend to appear gradually over the following months, and every person's recovery and growth timeline is different.

It all starts with a plan. Want to understand what yours might look like? Book a free 15-minute Discovery Call: regro.au/dc

A sample of your own blood, spun down and applied to the scalp.

PRP, which we call Growth Factor Therapy, and PRF both start with a blood draw. Sessions take around 30 to 45 minutes, and discomfort varies from person to person.

Some people have it before a transplant, some after, and some choose non-surgical options without one. It isn't essential for everyone.

Nine months after a temple hairline procedure with Dr Gamze.

2,233 grafts and 6,265 hairs, placed to rebuild a receding hairline at the temples, with each graft planned to follow the angle and direction of his natural hair.

Since his 6-month check-in, the transplanted areas have kept thickening. Transplanted hair often keeps maturing well past the halfway mark, and it can take 12 months or more to see how it settles. Timelines vary from person to person.

A transplant treats the area where grafts are placed. Hair loss can continue in other areas over time, which is why the long-term plan matters as much as the procedure.

Hair loss can be a tricky thing to bring up, whether it's your own or someone you love.
If your partner mentions it, the most useful thing you can do usually isn't to fix it or wave it away. It's to ask what they think, and listen.

For some people, their hair is part of how they see themselves. A calm, respectful conversation can make a real difference.

Read our full guide on how to talk to your partner about hair loss, including how to bring it up, what to say and how to support whatever they decide:

Six months on from a plan built around a receding hairline.

For this patient, Dr Hisham Khalid placed 3,690 grafts, 8,608 hairs across the areas being treated, with the placement planned around the existing hair and overall pattern of recession.

At six months, this is still an early stage of the growth timeline. Hair may continue to develop, thicken and mature over the months ahead, with timing varying from person to person.

The graft count is only one part of the plan. Where those grafts are placed, how they are positioned in relation to the surrounding hair and what may happen with future hair loss all need to be considered too.

Curious what a plan based on your own hair loss pattern could involve? Start with a free 15-minute Discovery Call: regro.au/dc

Not every area of hair loss carries the same priority.

Dr Hisham explains how the scalp is divided into different zones, and why understanding what matters most to the patient is an important part of planning a hair transplant.

Because where grafts are placed can matter just as much as how many are placed.
