Hello Friends of The Alison Lawson Centre Sunshine Coast Mobile Service,
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, and that 2025 has been a year with many fond memories! (And I'm sure there has also been some challenges to overcome along the way, which is just life, I guess).
I have had an amazing year! Travelling to Nepal, then Europe then back to Sunshine Coast then out to Goondiwindi for 5 weeks, then back to the Sunny Coast for a two week intensive to finish off the year. As always, I am blown away by the results that these kids work so hard to achieve, and the dedicated parents who give up so much to see their kids get the breakthrough they are desperately needing to be able to gain their confidence in literacy based learning, and go forward with greater ease. Well done all!
One very quick testimony from the Sunny Coast: a 9 year old girl, struggled to read simple text, guessed words, sentences didn't make sense, gave up if something was too hard, highly intelligent. After the two week treatment program now reading accurately what is on the page, reading fluently, understanding what she is reading. Confidence up massively. Mum is blown away. Well done Miss A!! You are truly amazing! So is Mum to work with you to achieve these results!
As 2026 is just around the corner, I thought I would update my plans for this new year.
The Sunshine Coast Service will continue at set times throughout the year, at dates yet to be decided. But it looks like I will be on the Sunshine Coast twice in 2026 for assessments and to provide the treatment program, which will more than likely be the two week program. I am still offering a mobile service for Queensland this year, so if you know of anyone who may need the service I provide, please let them know to reach out to me and we can see what can be arranged to get help to them. I am also planning to get to Mackay again this year, so heads up to anyone up there needing help.
I personally have settled in St George, Queensland for a time, so I am looking forward to providing the town and surrounding communities with the services that we offer to help kids that are struggling to read.
