We’re part of a potentially groundbreaking clinical study investigating whether heart attacks can be prevented before they begin, featured on 9 News Sydney last night.
The Triggered Acute Risk Prevention (TARP) study, funded by a $400,000 Ramsay Hospital Research Foundation grant, is testing whether timely intervention during everyday stressors, such as emotional distress, vigorous physical exertion and illness, can stop heart attacks at the point of onset.
Participants use a smartphone app to record episodes of stress and other triggers, then are guided to take low-dose, widely used medications.
