Artists in all shapes and fancy forms,

Just a quick reminder that tomorrow is the final day to apply to be part of our next community art exhibition, Emerge, happening on Saturday 17th October at Nin Yoga Penrith.

If you've been thinking about exhibiting your work, performing, or sharing something you've created, consider this your little nudge.

We're looking for painters, photographers, potters, ceramicists, sculptors, digital artists, illustrators, mixed media artists, poets, musicians, dancers and performers of all kinds.

You also don't need to have your exhibition pieces finished before applying.

Your application is simply a way for us to get to know your work and your style, so photos of previous artwork are absolutely fine. Many of the artists from our last exhibition created their pieces after being accepted, using the theme as their inspiration.

This year's theme is Emerge.

What that looks like is completely up to you. That's one of our favourite parts of these exhibitions. Watching dozens of artists interpret the same word in completely different ways.

We'll be curating the exhibition to create a beautiful mix of mediums, styles and performances throughout the evening.

As always, 100% of artwork sales go directly to the artist.

If you've been waiting until the last minute cause thats what gets your b***y into action... well.... here it is!

Applications close tomorrow night.

Apply here:

We can't wait to see what this community creates.

Applications close July 31st.

After all the love and success of our Threads of Being exhibition in April, we're doing it allllllll again.

Applications are now open for our next exhibition, Emerge, happening on Sunday, 17th October 2026 at Nin Yoga Penrith.

We're looking for painters, photographers, digital artists, potters, ceramicists, sculptors, mixed media artists, illustrators and creatives of all kinds. We're also looking for poets, musicians, dancers and performers who would like to share their work on the evening.

The theme for this exhibition is Emerge.

What that means is entirely up to you.

Perhaps it's about stepping into a new version of yourself. Perhaps it's about growth, healing, becoming visible, finding your voice, or the moment something hidden begins to surface. We intentionally choose themes that can be interpreted in many different ways, and we love seeing where artists take them.

We curate each exhibition to create a balance of mediums, styles and experiences throughout the space. Applications do not guarantee a place, and artists will be notified once selections have been made.

100% of artwork sales go directly to the artist.

For guests attending, tickets are already available at www.ninyoga.com.au/shop :
β€’ $27 early bird (first 100 tickets)
β€’ $37 thereafter

The evening will include art, music, poetry, unlimited herbal tea, nibbles throughout the event at no extra cost, and wine for a small donation.

Applications are now open:
www.ninyoga.com.au/art

We'd love to see what emerges within this so very wonderful community.

"Life is short.

Drink the champagne.

Eat the oysters.

Love your baby."

– Jade Leverett

Last week, a friend asked me for this video.

It's a 45-minute Power Yoga class that I filmed of Jade teaching a power yoga class (her fav!) in her beautiful home in Regentville during the 2020 lockdown.

I had completely forgotten about it.

After sending it to a few people who were close to her, I realised I wanted to share it with all of you as well.

Many of you will have known Jade, whether as a yoga teacher, a student, or simply as someone whose path crossed yours here in the Western Sydney yoga community.

She left this world on the 16th of July 2026 ❀️

There are people you meet who leave an imprint on you, and Jade was one of those people for me.

I will always remember her tapas, her incredible intelligence, the countless late nights after yoga classes at the St Marys studio talking philosophy over a bottle of red wine, and the way she made you feel whenever you spoke with her.

She had a rare presence that made everyone with her feel genuinely seen.

This class feels like such a wonderful little time capsule. Forty-five minutes spent practising alongside Jade, hearing her voice, moving with her, and remembering the deep passion she had for both education and yoga.

If you would like to practise with Jade, you can find the class here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUyydNoJjY8

I hope, wherever you are today, you take a moment to hold those you love a little closer. And if you feel called to, maybe even roll out your mat and spend 45 minutes practising alongside Jade.

Artists,

A little reminder that we're still looking for artists and performers to be part of our next exhibition, Emerge, happening on Saturday 17th October at Nin Yoga Penrith.

Applications close next Friday, after which we'll begin curating the evening.

We're looking for painters, photographers, potters, ceramicists, sculptors, digital artists, illustrators, mixed media artists, poets, musicians, dancers and performers of all kinds.

One question we've been getting asked a lot is whether you need to have already created the artwork you'll be exhibiting.

The answer is no.

When you apply, we're simply looking to get a feel for your style and practice, so you're welcome to upload photos of previous work rather than the pieces you intend to exhibit. Many artists create their exhibition pieces after they've been accepted, inspired by the exhibition theme.

This year's theme is Emerge.

What that means is entirely up to you. Growth, healing, finding your voice, becoming visible, or something completely different. We love seeing the many ways artists interpret the same idea.

As always, we'll be curating the exhibition to create a balanced mix of mediums, styles and performances throughout the evening.

100% of artwork sales go directly to the artist.

If you've been thinking about applying, we'd absolutely love to see your work.

Applications close next Friday, the 31st of July

β€œThe quieter you become, the more you can hear.”
β€” Ram Dass

When did rest become something we had to earn?

Somewhere along the way, many of us, myself included, started believing that rest was the reward for finishing everything else.

Get through your emails.
Clean the house.
Move your body.
Work that lil bit harder.
Look after everyyyyyyyone else.

Then, maybe, if there's any time left over... you can rest.

The problem is that there is always something else to do.

Somewhere we've learnt that slowing down is lazy.

Yoga has always offered me a different perspective.

Sometimes yoga asks us to move.

Sometimes it asks us to become stronger.

Sometimes it asks us to challenge ourselves.

And sometimes it simply asks us to stop.

This Sunday from 9:15am – 10:45am, we'll be holding our monthly Restorative Yoga Workshop.

Unlike Yin Yoga, restorative yoga isn't about passive stretching of the connective tissues.

Although both practices are slow and use props, their intention is very different.

Yin Yoga gently stresses the fascia to improve their health and resilience.

Restorative Yoga removes almost all physical effort. Every pose is completely supported with bolsters, blankets, blocks and cushions so your body can settle into deep relaxation. We stay in each shape for around 10–15 minutes, allowing the nervous system time to shift from doing into simply being.

Both practices belong.

Sometimes we need gentle stress.

Sometimes we need complete rest.

One isn't better than the other. They're simply different conversations with the body.

A few months ago I filmed one of my restorative classes with some of our teacher training graduates. If you've ever wondered what restorative yoga actually looks like, I'd love for you to have a watch.

https://youtu.be/6HAhgr55pOs

This Sunday's workshop is taught in complete silence.

No music.

No rushing.

Just stillness, breath, and plenty of blankets.

If your nervous system has been asking for a pause, perhaps this is your invitation.

I'd love to see you have a lay down with the rest of us.

Meet your Inversion Foundations teacher for this Sunday, Laura Kernahan.

Laura has been part of the Nin Yoga community for many years and has spent most of her life upside down.

She has taught handstand and inversion workshops at yoga studios, gyms and retreats around Australia, helping hundreds of students build confidence through clear progressions, technical coaching and plenty of encouragement. Her classes are fun, engaging and accessible, whether you're attempting your very first handstand or refining an existing inversion practice.

This Sunday, Laura begins our 4-Week Inversion Foundations Series (and there are just two spots left!)

Over four weeks, you'll progressively develop:

β€’ Forearm Stand
β€’ Handstand
β€’ Supported Headstand
β€’ Arm Balances

We'll also cover wrist and shoulder preparation, core engagement, body line awareness, safe wall work, spotting, entry techniques and how to fall safely.

This is beginner friendly. You don't need to already be upside downβ€”you just need to be ready to learn.
