Your horse has had physio.
The saddle fitter has been out.
You've had lesson after lesson trying to improve that same issue.
But you finish every ride with a sore back.
So maybe it's your turn?

Rider physio isn't a riding lesson.

Sessions start on the horse, where I assess how you're moving in the saddle and how that may be influencing your horse. We then move off the horse to assess mobility, strength and motor control, followed by treatment and targeted exercises to address the underlying cause.

Whether you're struggling to sit the trot, stay even between reins, maintain your position or put your coach's feedback into practice, rider physio helps bridge the gap between knowing what to do and being able to do it.

Why I put pole work in nearly every program ๐Ÿ‘‡

It has so many benefits for
- range of movement
- core engagement
- balance
- proprioception
- strengthening of the hindquarter muscles

Changing the pole patterns changes the aim of the training exercises:
- Shortening the distance between the poles can help shorten the stride to train collection
- lengthening will increase stride length
- raising will increase core engagement and limb flexion
- fan the poles to increase inside hindlimb engagement

Pole work is the horse version of a Pilates reformer: one bit of equipment giving countless exercise options.

If you want to incorporate pole work into your horse's training program and you're not sure where to start, book a physio assessment to get started โœจ

You canโ€™t fix what you canโ€™t feel.

When I assess a rider, Iโ€™m not just looking at position.

Iโ€™m looking at symmetry, how youโ€™re using your muscles, whether your aids are coming through clearly, and whether your setup or your horse is influencing the way you move.

A lot of what shows up in the saddle isnโ€™t always obvious to the rider.

Thatโ€™s why we step off the horse as well.

From there, I assess mobility, strength and control to work out whether the issue exists in your body or if itโ€™s something that only shows up when youโ€™re riding.

Because that distinction matters. It changes what we treat and how we improve it.

If youโ€™ve been working on your riding but something still feels off, get an assessment from a physio's point of view.

Complete the enquiry form via the website and weโ€™ll be in touch to organise a time that suits you.

Cross training should be a part of your weekly training schedule.

Think about it. AFL players don't 'just' do sport specific training. They're in the gym to build strength and power, doing Pilates for core activation and motor control, doing extra running and bike riding to improve their cardiovascular fitness. All to ensure their body is in peak physical condition and to avoid overtraining and overuse injuries. They recover with ice baths massage and long recovery walks (sometimes hitting a little white ball with an expensive stick ๐ŸŒ๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ).

Your horse's training schedule should look different everyday. Adding Pole work for core engagement and increased hindlimb flexion, carrot stretches for building topline, hill work for hindquarter strength or walks in the forest or down the road to work on relaxation and proprioception.

You wouldn't go to the gym and train the same leg routine everyday. So why do we enter the arena and ride the same training routine everyday?

If you want a personalized plan to add discipline specific cross training into your horse's program, book a physio appointment via the booking form on the website today โœจ

What actually changes after rider physio?

Itโ€™s not just about feeling better in the saddle.

Youโ€™ll see improvements in control, strength and body awareness. That means your position becomes more consistent, your aids make more sense and your horse can perform more consistently underneath you.

When the rider changes, the horse often does too.

Iโ€™ve put together a breakdown of what actually improves after rider physio and how that carries over into your riding.

You can read it below.

If youโ€™ve been putting in the work but not seeing the change youโ€™re after, this will make sense.

Discover how rider physiotherapy improves motor control, strength, mobility and body awareness, and how this impacts your horseโ€™s performance.

Be honestโ€ฆ are you problem? ๐Ÿ™ˆ

You know what your coach is asking, but itโ€™s just not quite happening in the saddle.

Itโ€™s usually not that you donโ€™t know what to do. Your body just isnโ€™t doing it the way you think it is.

This is exactly what rider physio is for.

I look at how you move on and off the horse to figure out whatโ€™s actually limiting you, then give you a plan to fix it.

When that changes, everything starts to come together.
Your position holds, your aids make sense and your horse can finally move (without you getting in the way) ๐Ÿ˜‰

And for the first time, Iโ€™m offering a discount.
Yep, $30 off all rider physio sessions on the day.

If youโ€™ve been thinking about it, this is your opportunity.

Spots are limited. Visit the website to learn more or submit an enquiry form to book.

Getting the same feedback from your coach, but not quite able to change it?

You know what youโ€™re meant to be doing, but itโ€™s not translating in the saddle.

This is something I see a lot.

Often itโ€™s not a lack of understanding or effort. Itโ€™s that the body doesnโ€™t yet have the control, strength or mobility to do whatโ€™s being asked.

So the same corrections keep coming up, without real change.

Rider physiotherapy assessments look at how you move in the saddle and give you a clear plan to improve it.

More information is available via the website, or you can submit an enquiry to book an appointment.
