The bush fire crisis can only be dealt with by real systemic action on climate change by accepting Julia Gillard and Malcolm Turnbull were right and by quickly implementing a price on carbon, so the whole world's economy moves away from fossil fuels. We must ensure cleaner, renewable technologies and new employment opportunities of the future are created much sooner via this core initiative of pricing carbon out of the world's economy. This is the best use of federal government millions, if not billions. We're already more than 20 years behind. Add your age and see what has happened in your lifetime here:

We take first aid and the health of people very seriously, especially the best practice information we constantly strive for in our free Basic First Aid Notes https://www.wadd.com.au/first-aid-notes-basic . Here is my letter to Cricket Australia CEO Kevin Roberts in response to the very bad hit to the neck received by Steve Smith and the way Cricket Australia handled it.

Dear Kevin Roberts, CEO Cricket Australia,

Please read the letter below, sent to Luke Griggs, Deputy Chief Executive of Headway.

You and Cricket Australia were absolutely wrong to allow Steve Smith to return to the field within such a short time after he suffered a very serious neck injury, witnessed by viewers around the world. The way in which he was permitted to return to the field sent a very dangerous message to those who play the game of cricket as well as other sports. You should immediately come out in support of those who booed at the game because they have more reason to challenge this terrible decision with what they saw before their eyes and the incomprehensible sight of this injured man walking back onto the filed. This is not bravery, this was sheer stupidity.

I guess you have very good insurance and very expensive at that. Maybe you should ensure all those cricket clubs across Australia taking your message of sending Steve Smith straight back onto the field, after a very bad hit to the neck, have the same at your expense.

Yours faithfully,

Neil Waddington

Dear Luke Griggs, Deputy Chief Executive of Headway,

I write in complete support of your statement today in Australia’s national ABC news that it was incredibly dangerous for Steve Smith to resume his first innings in the second Ashes Test at Lord’s after suffering a strike to the neck.

Not only was it incredibly dangerous but it went against the message people need to follow and understand about head injury and concussion in particular. It would have been far more brave of Steve Smith to stay off the field and receive off-field specialist medical attention over a proper period of time. I’ve been in the first aid industry for many years, my ancestors significantly longer, and my free Basic First Aid Notes presses the message clearly under Head Injury. If I was at the game I would have maybe booed too, booed at the administrators sending this man back onto the field or allowing him to do so. This sends an appalling and very dangerous message to all who play and manage sport world-wide.

Thank you for your input today because it not only brings much needed balance to the whole discussion, but more importantly, it provides the most important and only message people need to hear, for the sake of better health and indeed people’s lives.

All the best with the valuable work you do at Headway.

Kind regards,

Neil Waddington

Email letter to Elon Musk and Tesla.

Dear CEO Elon Musk and Tesla Management,

Thank you for your marketing information, including emails I am receiving for the Model 3, but they are not what I had hoped for. Disappointing to be very honest.

All your cars are simply TOO EXPENSIVE. If your Model 3 was priced near that of other new cars, I’d buy one today because I have been saving up for a new car and have vowed it will be fully electric. But to pay over $70,000 for a new car is simply ridiculous. I’ve only ever bought one new car in all my 59 years (a $25,000 2003 family focused Toyota Corolla hatch) and for the last 6 years we’ve been driving a second-hand $12,000 2008 Toyota Prius – the best and most economical car I’ve ever had to date. If you really want to take charge of the automobile marketplace and you are genuine in your belief that the world needs what you are producing, then your cars would be priced accordingly, so average buyers like me can actually afford to buy one.

I thought a Tesla car was going to be a game-changer when it came to Australia, but not at double and triple the price of other new cars. I must say I’m very sad and disillusioned that your Model 3, pitched at the regular car buyer, is not at all what I was led to believe years ago when I was first introduced to it at one of your shopping mall display booths. To be honest, the Model 3 should be priced under $50,000 to really make its mark. Any more and I feel as though you’re out to price gouge. Moreover, I believe you have simply not done your research about what the vast majority of new car buyers in Australia can afford (even at a stretch) and especially during a down-turn in the economy.

It’s a great pity that the price of your cars does not match the reasons why you build them, promote them and attach the name Tesla to them, in particular the Model 3. As I’m from the State of South Australia, where I have based my company for more than 30 years, we thoroughly stand for renewables and saving our planet, not at great cost to our customers but at extra goodwill and personal cost to the way we do business because this is what I truly believe and stand for, not something which is blatantly passed on to our customers in the form of crazy high prices.

I hope this email registers with you and your senior management and we see a huge drop in the Australian price for the Model 3. Will you get the price down to something far more reasonable?

Kind regards,

Neil Waddington
