Winter can make it a little more challenging to get outside into nature and sunlight. According to Harvard Medical School Journal (July 2019) immersing in nature for 20 - 30 minutes assists significantly in lowering stress hormones such as cortisol.

So if your feeling stressed, overwhelmed or hit an energetic slump in your day, give yourself the gift of interacting with nature whether that be at your local park, a walk around your local area or beach. We know your body & mind will benefit significantly from this easy and accessible form of self care 🍀

Today is Mental Health World Day 🌎
This year the theme is “Where we live. How we live. What we’ve lived.”

Providing an opportunity for the world and nation to address and highlight the fundamental link between social determinants and mental health, to promote peoples mental health through effective and early intervention strategies.

Honouring the ecosystem between body, environment, mind and spirit which is essential to our overall wellbeing. Physical health within us and the world around us can have a significant impact on our mental health. Such as quality of housing, relationships, consumption, nutrition, movement of the body, the health of the planet, neighbourhoods, schools and workplaces all play an important part in determining the health of our people and communities.

Our bodies keep score of all of these factors and manifest across many areas of our lives and health. Learning how to process, accept, healt and grow from trauma and negative experiences helps to improve our resilience, build healthy lives and relationships, make positive lifestyle choices, access new opportunities, coping skills, quality of life and strong community connections.

I would like to extend this as an invitation to reflect on your mental health needs and to remind you that you are never alone in your healing journey 🙏🏽🌎

This is an important issue, access to psychological therapy needs to be accessible and affordable to people in our communities, particularly in light of the pandemic & the rising cost of living which continue to negatively impact families across the country.
