This World Breastfeeding Week, we're celebrating the theme ‘Strengthen What Works’ by recognising the comprehensive breastfeeding support available to families at Subiaco.

From pregnancy through to the early weeks and months of parenthood, our dedicated team is here every step of the way, including:

🤱 Antenatal breastfeeding education delivered by an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
🏥 Breastfeeding support from our midwives on the maternity ward.
👶 Postnatal group breastfeeding classes.
💜 Dedicated ward-based lactation consultants.
🏡 In-home support through Health Care at Home.
🍼 Lactation consultant support at our Pregnancy, Baby and Beyond Clinic.
👩‍⚕️ Ongoing support from midwives and lactation consultants at Subi Babies.
📚 Breastfeeding study days for our maternity caregivers to ensure families receive evidence-based care.

By strengthening the services and expertise that already support new families, we're helping parents feel informed, confident and empowered on their breastfeeding journey.

It's DonateLife Week and we’re proudly supporting this vital cause. Despite 4 in 5 Australians saying they support organ donation, only around 1 in 3 are actually registered on the Australian Organ Donor Register.

Today, we're sharing a message from Chloe, a very special little girl whose life was saved thanks to the generosity of an organ donor.

By raising awareness and encouraging more people to register, we can help save lives and give people a second chance. ✨

We recently had the privilege of welcoming Amy and Chris to St John of God Subiaco Hospital as they donated a cuddle cot in memory of their daughter, Zoe.

In the face of unimaginable loss, they have chosen to create a lasting legacy that will bring comfort to other families during some of the hardest moments of their lives.

The cuddle cot will be located in our dedicated bereavement suite, offering families experiencing the heartbreak of pregnancy or infant loss the precious gift of time to hold, love and say goodbye to their baby in a safe, private and compassionate space.

Each year, more than 4,000 babies are born at St John of God Subiaco Hospital. While we celebrate so many joyful arrivals, we also walk alongside families through unimaginable loss. Donations like this help us to continue providing compassionate care when it is needed most.

As our CEO, Tina Chinery, shared, hospitals often rely on philanthropic support to provide specialised equipment such as cuddle cots, making gifts like this truly invaluable.

Amy and Chris, thank you for turning your love for Zoe into a gift of comfort, compassion and hope for others. Zoe’s legacy will touch the lives of countless families for years to come. ❤️
