✨ Why is K1 called Bubbling Spring?

A spring is where water emerges from the ground.

Not forced.
Not pushed.

It rises naturally.

The ancient Chinese often named points through observation rather than description.

One of the most well-known points in Classical Chinese Medicine sits on the sole of the foot.

They called it K1 — Bubbling Spring.

Not because it looks like a spring.

Because the image of a spring helped describe what they observed there.

For many therapists, this is where Chinese Medicine begins to feel different.

Points are no longer just locations to memorise.

The names themselves become part of the learning.

They offer clues about function, relationship, movement, and observation.

When you begin to understand the meaning behind the names, you start to see that Chinese Medicine is not simply a collection of points.

It is a way of understanding the body.

In Classical Chinese Medicine, the name was often part of the teaching.
