There is no controlling life, try corralling a lightning bolt,
containing a tornado. Dam a
stream and it will create a new
channel. Resist, and the tide
will sweep you off your feet.
Allow, and grace will carry
you to higher ground. The only
safety lies in letting it all in –
the wild and the weak; fear,
fantasies, failures and success.
When loss rips off the doors of
the heart, or sadness veils your
vision with despair, practice
becomes simply bearing the truth.
In the choice to let go of your
known way of being, the whole
world is revealed to your new eyes.

Water and fluid body awareness.

Join me for weekly yoga classes in Sunshine Beach to dive more deeply into fluid body practice.

Winter is a particularly important season to practice in a way that softens, hydrates and invites more free and fluent movement.

Classes held on Wednesday and Sunday 4:30pm.

To my beautiful Melbourne yoga community,

You've been very much on my mind lately.

We shared something truly special in our studio—a community that I will always be grateful for. The friendships, conversations, and time we spent together remain very close to my heart.

Unfortunately, my Mailchimp email list has somehow disappeared. It's one of those technological mysteries that is well beyond my skill set to fix! As a result, I can no longer stay in touch with many of you by email.

I wanted you to know that I haven't forgotten you. Quite the opposite. I think of our community often.

If you happen to see someone from our old studio community, would you mind letting them know to stay connected with me here on Facebook or Instagram? I'd love to keep in touch and continue sharing yoga, retreats, and whatever adventures life brings next.

I hope our paths cross again soon. Until then, thank you for being part of such a meaningful chapter of my life.

:) Gena

Compass vs. Clock

Have you ever noticed how often we measure our lives by the clock?

How long until I feel better? How long will recovery take? How long until I find my purpose, build my business, or become the person I hope to be?

Did you know that the compass was invented long before the clock. Imagine standing at the edge of an unfamiliar landscape centuries ago. You wouldn't care what time it was—you would care which direction to walk. Before people needed to know the hour, they needed to know where they were going.

Somewhere along the way, many of us traded our compass for a clock.

We've become consumed by timing. We compare our progress with others. We wonder why healing is taking so long. We worry that we should be further along by now. We treat life like a race to be won instead of a journey to be experienced.

Yet life doesn't always follow a schedule.

Growth, healing, and change rarely happen according to the timeline we imagine. They unfold as circumstances shift, as we learn, as we reconnect with ourselves, and as we take one step after another. Often, progress is so gradual that we only recognise it when we pause to look back.

Perhaps that's how life is meant to work.

The most meaningful transformations aren't measured by minutes, hours or days but by direction. Every small choice, every act of courage, every moment of kindness toward ourselves moves us closer to the life we want to create.

The compass never asks how long the journey will take. It simply points north.

Maybe that's a question worth asking ourselves from time to time. Not, "Why am I not there yet?" but rather, "Am I still heading in the direction of the life I want to live?"

Because when our direction is true, even the smallest steps can carry us a very long way.

What direction is your compass pointing??

Your winter escape is almost here.

When you choose to step away on retreat, you're giving yourself one of life's greatest gifts—time. Time to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with yourself.

For a little while, the outside world fades away as you immerse yourself in your yoga practice, surrounded by the beauty and stillness of nature. Allow yourself the space to rest, restore, and simply be.

We can't wait to share this

Sometimes.....

Sometimes
if you move carefully
through the forest

breathing
like the ones
in the old stories

who could cross
a shimmering bed of dry leaves
without a sound,

you come
to a place
whose only task

is to trouble you
with tiny
but frightening requests

conceived out of nowhere
but in this place
beginning to lead everywhere.

Requests to stop what
you are doing right now,
and

to stop what you
are becoming
while you do it,

questions
that can make
or unmake
a life,

questions
that have patiently
waited for you,

questions
that have no right to go away

Gentleness
is often mistaken for weakness, but in truth, it is a profound strength. To be gentle in a world that can be harsh takes courage.

Gentleness is the soft hand that soothes in moments of distress, the calm voice that brings peace in the midst of chaos, and the open heart that chooses kindness over anger.

True gentleness begins within. It’s about being kind to yourself, nurturing your own spirit, and approaching your life with a sense of grace. When you carry gentleness in your heart, you bring a quiet strength into every situation. You move through the world with a soft power that can heal, uplift, and inspire.

Remember, gentleness doesn’t mean avoiding challenges or standing down in the face of difficulty. It means facing them with compassion, both for yourself and others. It’s about choosing patience over frustration, understanding over judgment, and love over fear.

Be gentle with yourself.
Be gentle with others.
In that gentleness, you will find strength, resilience, and the power to create a world filled with light and peace.

Every human carries a measurable electrical field shaped by the heart, nervous system, and fascia. The heart’s electromagnetic field extends beyond the body and changes with emotion — coherent in calm and gratitude, chaotic in stress and fear. We do not move through life untouched by one another; we constantly influence each other.

Fascia, the body’s connective tissue, generates tiny electrical currents when stretched or compressed — a process called piezoelectricity. Stress tightens these tissues and disrupts communication, while safety and calm restore flow. What many call “energy” has real biological foundations.

Our nervous systems are designed to synchronize. Mirror neurons, the vagus nerve, breath, posture, and tone all allow us to absorb the emotional states of those around us. Even our cells emit tiny pulses of light called biophotons, which shift with our emotional and physical state.

Like tuning forks, humans resonate with one another. Calm spreads. Fear spreads. Presence matters because your emotional state affects the space around you long before words are spoken.

We are electrical beings living in constant exchange, shaping each other through every interaction, every emotion, and every breath.

You are not separate from the world around you.
You are part of its signal, its resonance, its living field in motion.

Still, what I want in my life
is to be willing
to be dazzled --
to cast aside the weight of facts

and maybe even
to float a little
above this difficult world.
I want to believe I am looking

into the white fire of a great mystery.
I want to believe that the imperfections are nothing --
that the light is everything -- that it is more than the sum
of each flawed blossom rising and fading. And I do.

An interesting article on Interoception; the sensing mechanism in which your brain receives information from your body through receptors of your internal organs and systems. Interoception is less well known than the 'outward facing' senses such as sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell, but it has an enormous effect for your well being.

Through the practices of restorative yoga and somatic movement you learn to enhance your awareness of this sensory system and therefore improve your health.

There’s growing evidence that signals sent from our internal organs to the brain play a major role in regulating emotions and fending off anxiety and depression
