The excitement of a new term has settled, routines are back, and for many families this is when things start to get a little harder.
Around week 3 of term 3, it’s common to see increased anxiety, emotional outbursts, meltdowns, difficulty concentrating or behaviours that seem out of character.
Our children are constantly communicating through their actions, especially when they don’t yet have the words to explain how they’re feeling.
As a parent, it’s important to remember behaviour is communication, maybe their nervous system is overwhelmed and stuck in a stress response
As a Kinesiologist, I love helping children gently regulate their nervous system , allowing them to feel calmer, more settled and better able to cope with everyday life.
Another area I support is retained primitive reflexes. When these early reflexes haven’t fully integrated, they can influence emotional regulation, learning, focus, coordination, confidence and even how a child responds to stress.
When I work with the nervous system and support these underlying patterns, I often see positive changes, the child feels calmer, more connected , more confident and better equipped to navigate the challenges of school and life.
Every behaviour has a reason. Every child is doing the best they can with the resources they have.
If your child has found this return to school a little tougher than expected, Kinesiology maybe a gentle way to support them.
