There's a strange pressure in business these days to look bigger than you are.

Perfect branding. Perfect videos. Perfect funnels. Perfect marketing.

Sometimes it feels like if you don't have a six figure advertising budget, you simply disappear.

The truth is, we're just a small family business trying to do meaningful work.

I'm a husband. A father. I juggle multiple businesses. Some days I'm formulating skincare. Other days I'm planting gardens, packing orders, speaking at community events or answering customer emails late at night after the kids are asleep.

Nothing about Against The Grain has ever been conventional.

I'm a bloke who makes skincare.

We don't fit neatly into a box.

We're not just skincare. We're not just herbalists. We're not just community builders.

We are creating products and spaces that help people reconnect with themselves.

Sometimes I wonder if that makes it harder for people to understand who we are and what we do.

But maybe that's the point. Ive built this business inner standing that people don't connect with perfect businesses.

They connect with real people.

People who are figuring it out. People who care deeply. People who make mistakes. People who keep showing up anyway.

No marketing budget can replace genuine care.
