It really is an intersting time in my life as my body and my mind adjust to being diagnosed with ADHD which arose quite prominently during peri-menopause.
I didnt know... Ive been seeking and searching for something to fix the way I feel, instead of accepting and adjusting.
You see I am someone who has given my energy tirelessly until burn out, thus then needing to take extended period of time to calm and re-energise, before once again repeating the same pattern. Once at burnout the reactivity became prominent and I didint understand it at all. I understood it in others... but was not correlating... resisting.
Not only do I reconcile with a mind that is very fast, I also have a trauma background, which through mentorships, both spiritual and conventional and physical movement, I have learned to adjust the way that I am moving through my life. More respect, more compassion. But also more of taking the knowledge, all the 'I knows'; and transferring it into 'being'.
At 55 years of age, I am trusting my body and while I get completely encapsulated in my thoughts, much better at letting them drift through.
Keeping it simple, peaceful, mindful. Fundamentally using foundations that support better habits and shifts..... its not about fixing or thinking something is wrong, but becoming a curious observer with intention, not so tight and constricted that it to becomes a problem.
We acknowledge the truth of how we currently feel, whats happening in the body.
Acknowledging that adjustment and self care is essential to the changing landscape of our bodies and most importantly that there is nothing wrong with you.
Its a personal journey, all of it, for everyone ,and we have this plethora of information available to us now, people who are sharing their experiences, their 'cures', people telling you that you have something wrong that requires fixing.............
For me, I believe it is part of aging, growing, personal path, self acceptance; a path of curious enquiry, of taking information that may resonate or appear more than once and 'trying' it out. Feeling if it feels ok. I believe it is not one thing and that it is all the parts of us that create the whole and therefore all the parts that ask for gentle tending and nourishing.
You are your own garden, to tend, to listen to, to mourn, grieve, fear, laugh at, seek solace in, find joy in, peace, happiness, meander through, allow some weeds, sunlight, rain and most of all love.
