🌈 Everyone deserves to feel safe, welcomed and respected when accessing healthcare. 💗

BreastScreen Queensland Sunshine Coast is hosting a Rainbow Clinic on Thursday 8 October from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at Maroochydore, providing a safe and inclusive screening experience for members of the LGBTIQA+ community.

Breast screening is free for eligible people aged 40 and over, takes less than 30 minutes, and no doctor's referral is required.

To book an appointment, call 13 20 50 or register your interest via the link we'll add in the comments.

We're proud to have Sunshine Coast Haematology and Oncology Clinic supporting this year's THINK PINK Cocktail Party.

Every day, their team walks alongside people and families facing cancer. Together, we're united by the same goal: ensuring local people affected by breast cancer receive the care, support and practical assistance they need.

Last year, the Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Program responded to 371 requests for assistance, providing more than $93,000 in practical support to Sunshine Coast residents impacted by breast cancer.

Every ticket purchased helps us continue providing support when it's needed most.

The impact of a breast cancer diagnosis extends far beyond treatment. Sometimes, it's the small acts of kindness, compassion and support that make all the difference.

"The support I have received from the Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Program has been invaluable. It started with a visit in hospital by one of their breast care nurses. It was so nice to have someone sit and chat about things while I was feeling vulnerable and emotional following surgery.

"On my first night in hospital the Cindy Mackenzie nurse came in to check on me, and gave me a little cushion to make me more comfortable. Then, before I was discharged, the nurse ran through some helpful information about support services in the area. She also explained the work of their cancer program and how they supported people with breast cancer on the Sunshine Coast.

"Then this week, which was a difficult week with more tests and results, the Cindy Mackenzie team sent me the most lovely bunch of flowers which really did make me feel special and cared for. It's been the genuine care and compassion from the team which has been so helpful at a very difficult time in my life. I cannot thank them enough." – F.H.
