| 2026 INTERNATIONAL VIRTUAL SCAR TISSUE SUMMIT |

We are delighted to share that Tania Shaw, Managing Director of Oncology Massage Training, will be presenting at the 2026 International Virtual Scar Tissue Summit for Manual Therapists.

Held online on Sunday 13 September 2026, the summit brings together five experienced presenters to explore scar tissue assessment and treatment through nutrition, clinical tools, treatment approaches and real life case studies.

Tania will contribute an important oncology perspective through her presentation on post operative scars and a case study within the oncology setting.

For manual therapists, understanding scar tissue can help inform thoughtful, individualised care for clients whose comfort, movement, function and wellbeing may have been affected by surgery or treatment.

The event can be attended live, with recordings also available for 30 days afterwards for anyone unable to join on the day.

l WORLD LUNG CANCER DAY l

Lung cancer remains one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers worldwide, yet awareness is still one of our greatest tools.

Many people are surprised to learn that lung cancer isn't only associated with smoking. While smoking remains the leading risk factor, environmental exposures, genetics and other factors can also contribute to a diagnosis.

Knowing the signs, recognising the risk factors and encouraging someone to seek medical advice when symptoms persist may help lead to earlier diagnosis—and earlier diagnosis can make a significant difference.

As healthcare professionals, therapists, carers and community members, we each have an opportunity to support those living with cancer through education, compassion and understanding.

This World Lung Cancer Day, let's continue the conversation and stand alongside everyone whose lives have been touched by lung cancer.

One of the questions we ask participants at the conclusion of each Oncology Massage program is:

What was the greatest value of the program and why?

The responses from our recent OM1 Cairns cohort highlighted several themes:

🤍 A supportive and relaxed learning environment that encouraged confidence and curiosity.

🤍 The opportunity to expand professional practice and provide additional options for clients.

🤍 A deeper understanding of oncology massage, the lymphatic system and the experiences of people affected by cancer.

🤍 Learning from experienced facilitators and developing practical skills that can be applied in clinical practice.

Supporting the Person, Not Just the Diagnosis

As we conclude our Neck & Head Cancer Awareness Month series, we're reflecting on the role oncology massage therapists play in supporting people living with and beyond cancer.

Our role is not to diagnose or treat cancer itself.

Our role is to provide safe, person centred care that acknowledges the unique experiences, challenges and goals of every individual.

This means listening without judgement, adapting care to meet changing needs, working within our scope of practice and, where appropriate, encouraging clients to seek further medical advice.

For many people, supportive care isn't just about physical comfort.

It's about feeling heard.

Feeling understood.

Feeling safe.

Every conversation, every treatment and every therapeutic relationship has the potential to make a meaningful difference.

Thank you for joining us throughout Neck & Head Cancer Awareness Month as we've explored awareness, early recognition, the impact of treatment and the important role of supportive care.

Together, we can continue to learn, advocate and provide compassionate care for people affected by cancer.

Beyond the Treatment

As we continue our Neck & Head Cancer Awareness Month series, this week we're exploring the impact that treatment can have on people living with neck and head cancer.

While treatment is designed to target cancer, its effects often extend well beyond the physical.

Depending on a person's diagnosis and treatment plan, they may experience changes to speaking, eating, swallowing, sleep, energy levels, appearance and emotional wellbeing.

These changes can influence not only how a person feels physically, but also how they experience everyday life, their relationships and their sense of self.

As oncology massage therapists, understanding these potential impacts helps us provide thoughtful, person centred care that recognises every individual's unique experience.

Sometimes the most meaningful support comes from taking the time to listen, adapt our approach and meet each client where they are.

Congratulations to our Perth OM1 graduates! 💚

Our Oncology Massage (OM1) program is about so much more than learning new techniques. It's about building confidence, developing clinical reasoning and learning how to provide safe, person-centred care.

When we asked our Perth participants what they valued most about the program, they shared:
