Thompson Brain & Mind Healthcare honours the extraordinary lives and legacy of Roy and Nola Thompson.

Roy and Nola’s generosity has helped make possible something truly special: a not-for-profit mental health service where a person’s financial circumstances do not determine the quality of care they can receive.

Their support has given people who had struggled to find answers elsewhere access to innovative treatment, world-leading research and clinical trials, while helping TBMH develop the next generation of mental health services and technologies.

Most importantly, Roy and Nola’s giving has changed lives. It has given people hope, supported families, helped people return to work and their communities, and created opportunities for recovery where there may previously have been none.

We are deeply saddened by their passing and enormously grateful for what they made possible.

Roy and Nola’s legacy will live on through the people they have helped and through TBMH’s continued commitment to transforming mental healthcare.

Your nervous system is always responding to what’s happening around you, shaping how safe or overwhelmed you feel. When it’s activated, things can feel intense.

When it settles, there’s more space to think, feel and respond.
Regulation isn’t about controlling that, it’s about learning how to support your body in those moments. This is something that develops over time.

With the right support and care, it’s something we can all build. We’re always here if you or someone you love needs support.

On Saturday, we had the privilege of hosting our first ever Arts in Recovery Exhibition! A really special afternoon bringing together community, creativity and conversations around mental health.

The exhibition showcased artwork created through our Art Therapy program, with each piece reflecting personal experiences, self-expression, healing and hope in ways words often cannot.

We were also incredibly grateful to have support from Michelle Sanders on behalf of the Mental Health Commission, Councillor Taylor Bunnag and Sunshine Coast Mayor Rosanna Natoli, whose presence helped highlight the importance of creating spaces where mental health, connection and lived experience can be openly acknowledged and supported.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, contributed artwork, shared conversations and helped make the day what it was.

This exhibition was a reminder of the role creativity can play in helping people feel seen, connected and understood. We’re very proud to have created this space together.

We’re so proud of the work happening here and it was wonderful to have the chance to share with someone who is so passionate about making a difference for Queensland communities.

Thank you, Donna, for taking the time to visit, listen and connect with our team. Your support and interest in the work happening on the Sunshine Coast means so much to us.
