Blending a temple is one of the areas that makes SMP look natural or very unnatural. The goal is to create a soft transition into the existing hair rather than a hard line.

A few tips:

* Don’t create a solid edge. Start with a lighter density at the outer edge of the temple and gradually increase the density as you move inward toward the thicker hair.
* Follow the natural hair direction. Temple hair usually angles down and slightly forward. Even though SMP dots are round, placing them to mimic the natural flow creates a more realistic look.
* Use varied spacing. Avoid placing dots in a perfect grid. Randomize the spacing slightly to imitate natural follicles.
* Reduce saturation near the front. The first 5–10 mm of the temple should generally be less dense than the area behind it.
* Feather into existing hair. If the client still has temple hair, place dots between the follicles instead of overloading the area.
* Build over multiple sessions. It’s easier to add density than remove it. Keep the first session conservative and assess the healed result before increasing density.

I’ve just had a whole week of appointments open up as I will not be going away now due to unforeseen circumstances.. 13th July - 19th July

Week starting 13 July Monday will be Brisbane and then Tuesday to Friday Sunshine Coast, as per usual it’s always me doing the treatment in both locations. Next available appointments are September in Brisbane on Mondays and August Sunshine Coast.

Unfortunately, not all SMP is created equal.

A big part of my work now involves correcting botched SMP from other clinics. Whether it’s pigment implanted too deep, unnatural hairlines, incorrect colour choice, or density that doesn’t match the client’s age and features, these mistakes can be difficult and expensive to fix.

That’s why doing your research before choosing an artist is so important.

Look at healed results, not just fresh photos. Ask how long they’ve been performing SMP, how many clients they’ve treated, and whether they have experience handling different skin types, scars, and previous SMP work.

The cheapest option can often become the most expensive if it needs laser removal and correction later.

Choose experience, consistency, and proven healed results. Your scalp deserves it.
