If your relationship had a bank statement this week... would it show more deposits or withdrawals?
We tend to notice the big things.

The anniversary.

The weekend away.

The flowers.

But relationships are often strengthened by much smaller moments.

A coffee made without asking.
A genuine “How was your day?”
Putting the phone down.
A thank you.
A kiss goodbye.

Those are deposits.

And then there are the withdrawals.

The eye-roll.

The criticism.

The distracted “uh-huh” while scrolling.

Taking each other for granted.

None of these might seem significant on their own.

But relationships are built in the accumulation of tiny moments.

So this week, don’t wait for the perfect romantic gesture.

Make three deposits. ❤️

Three small moments that say:

I see you.
I appreciate you.
We’re on the same team.

And here’s the tricky bit...

We can be very good at noticing the withdrawals we’re receiving, while completely missing the ones we’re making.

What if 3 words could change the direction of your next argument?

I’ve spent 15 years working with couples and I’ve seen the same patterns play out again and again.

So when Mamamia asked me to share some relationship wisdom, I knew exactly what I wanted to talk about….
The 3-word reset for heated arguments.

It’s simple. It’s practical. And it might just stop your next disagreement from becoming a full-blown relationship disaster.

Proud to have my latest article featured by Mamamia. ❤️

Go have a read and tell me if you’ve tried the 3-words!

❌ How to win an argument.

❤️ How to maintain my composure to say, "Tell me more."

Funny thing is...

Most relationships don't grow stronger because someone had the perfect comeback.

They grow stronger because someone became curious.

"Tell me more."

Three simple words.

But they communicate so much.

I'm listening.

I want to understand.

You matter.

It's amazing how quickly a conversation changes when the goal shifts from proving a point to understanding a person.

❤️ One Question Before You Go...

When was the last time someone made you feel truly heard?

👇 I'd love to hear what they said or did that made the difference.

Sometimes the relationship doesn't need your best argument.

It needs your best listening.

And occasionally...

Three little words.

"I was wrong."

26/07/2026

Different viewpoints don't have to create distance.

In fact, they can deepen connection when we replace defensiveness with curiosity.

This week's Monday Reset was inspired by my Who magazine article, How to Argue Without Wrecking Your Relationship.

You will likely also be keen to listen to my interviews with Focus on the Family Australia on navigating differing viewpoints in relationships.

🎧 You can listen via the link on my website press page.

The strongest relationships aren't built on having all the answers.

Sometimes that's not an explanation.

Sometimes it's not advice.

Sometimes it's simply...

"Tell me more."

Those three words communicate something incredibly powerful:

"I'm listening."

"I'm interested."

"Your experience matters."

And when you've contributed to the hurt?

Three different words can become just as powerful.

"I was wrong."

One invites understanding.

The other invites repair.

Neither phrase is easy.

But together, they create the kind of conversations that deepen trust instead of damaging it.

❤️ One Question Before You Go...

Which phrase do you find harder to say:

"Tell me more."

or

"I was wrong."

👇 I'd love to know why.

🍿 Netflix asks...

"Are you still watching?"

Maybe your relationship should ask...

"Are we still getting to know each other?"

One of the biggest myths about love is that once you know someone, the work is done.

The truth?

The strongest relationships are built by two people who never stop being curious about each other.

Whether you've been dating for three months or married for thirty years, there's always something new to discover.

Sometimes the most romantic thing you can do isn't plan a grand gesture.

Ask a better question.

❤️ One Question Before You Go...

What's one question you could ask someone you love this weekend that you've never asked before?

💌 If this resonated, you'll love my Monday Reset newsletter. Every Monday I share one idea, one tiny experiment and one question to help you build healthier relationships.

❤️ We celebrate the spark.

But we often overlook the slow burn.

The quiet conversations.

The shared laughter.

The cups of tea.

The moments when someone feels safe enough to tell you what's really on their heart.

Those moments don't make the highlight reel.

But they're the ones that build a relationship that lasts.

Whether you're dating, newly married, or have celebrated decades together, never underestimate the power of staying curious.

The strongest relationships aren't built in grand gestures.

They're built one conversation at a time.

Check out my latest Monday Reset newsletter for all the inspo.

The best relationships aren't built in a hurry.

We're living in a world of instant everything.

Instant replies.

Instant attraction.

Instant opinions.

Yet the things we value most were never meant to happen overnight.

Friendship.

Trust.

Shared values.

Deep connection.

Whether you're dating someone new or you've been married for decades, the healthiest relationships keep choosing curiosity over convenience.

The "slow burn" isn't just how great relationships begin.

It's how great relationships continue.

❤️ One Question Before You Go...

Who in your life could you slow down and be more curious about this week?

💌 You'll love my Monday Reset newsletter. Every Monday I share one idea, one tiny experiment, and one question to help you build healthier relationships.

This week's newsletter was inspired by my recent conversation with Focus on the Family Australia on Slow Burn Romance. You can find the link in my bio.

💛 Save this post for someone who needs permission to slow down.
