Today on World Blood Cancer Day I find myself reflecting on Dad’s journey with chronic myeloid leukaemia.
Years of bone marrow biopsies, blood transfusions, specialist appointments, waiting rooms, test results and treatment plans became part of life. Yet through it all, he faced every conversation with strength, calmness and positivity.
No matter what the results were, he never wanted his girls to carry the weight of his diagnosis but shared what he needed too.
Looking back now, I realise how much courage that took. Not just fighting the illness itself, but protecting the people he loved while walking through it.
Today is for remembering the resilience of those living with blood cancer, honouring the families who walk beside them, and appreciating the medical teams who become part of that journey along the way
