GUIDED AUTONOMY :: I've found language for a philosophy that underpins every session I lead: guided autonomy.
For me, my role isn't to make every decision for the people in front of me. It's to create an environment where people feel safe, supported, and empowered to make informed decisions for themselves.
Every session has options.
I set the pace of the room. I guide the experience. I respond to what I'm seeing. I invite people to challenge themselves when that's aligned with their body, their capacity, and their intention that day.
And if today is the day to reduce the load... take a break... modify the movement... or simply move more gently... beautiful. Choose that.
I believe in creating a shared movement experience with many appropriate pathways because movement is about building self-awareness.
Can I tune in?
Can I notice what I need today?
Can I honour that, rather than what I think I "should" be doing?
As facilitators, we have a responsibility to lead, observe, educate, create safety, and invite challenge. Within that structure, I trust people are capable of making—or learning to make—informed decisions that align with their body, their capacity, and their intention in that moment.
Sometimes the voice says, "Keep going. Everyone else still is."
Sometimes it says, "I think I've got a little more to give today."
Neither voice is something I want to solve.
They're an invitation to become curious.
To pause and ask, "Where is that coming from?"
That's when we learn something about ourselves.
And for me, that's where movement becomes so much bigger than movement. Every session becomes an opportunity to practise awareness, agency, and self-trust.
I believe those are some of the greatest gifts movement has to offer.
This is the kind of movement experience I want to be known for.
Move with depth | Lead with integrity | Embody evolution
