Wear it purple and show your colours! đź’ś

This Wear It Purple Day, we celebrate LGBTQIA+ young people and the many forms courage can take. The 2026 theme is Colours of Courage.

At our services, LGBTQIA+ young people are welcome. You can talk openly with our team about your s*xual health.

We also have a free and confidential youth clinic for young people under 25 at headspace Bondi Junction on Monday and Wednesday afternoons.

A recent study heard from more than 2,100 bi+ people about their experiences of s*x, relationships and healthcare.

The Australian-first Bi+ Sexual Health and HIV (BiSHH) study found that bi+ people are highly engaged with s*xual healthcare, but many do not always feel seen, understood or included.

At our services, bi+ people are welcome. Your identity and experiences will be respected. You can speak openly with our teams about your s*xuality and s*xual health.

Want to be an Ankali volunteer? The name "Ankali" comes from an Aboriginal word meaning “friend”.

For more than 40 years, Ankali volunteers have provided one-on-one support and built a strong, compassionate community.

Volunteers are matched with people living with or affected by HIV who may be experiencing loneliness or social isolation. Support could involve a phone call, a walk, a coffee or simply spending time together.

Training and ongoing support are provided.

A friendly Census Day reminder: if needed, you can fill in a separate Census form to keep your answers private from others in your household.

For the first time, the Australian Census will ask people aged 16 and over about gender and s*xual orientation.

These new questions will help build a clearer picture of the diverse communities we serve and support more inclusive services.

Looking for a meaningful way to support your community? Become an Ankali volunteer! 🏅

Since 1985, the Ankali Project has connected trained volunteers with people affected by HIV who may be experiencing social isolation or significant life changes.

Volunteers receive comprehensive training and ongoing support before being matched with an Ankali consumer.

Applications are still open for Ankali’s 118th volunteer training program, held on 10, 11 and 17 October 2026.

If you are living in Australia long-term and do not have Medicare, you may be able to access free PrEP through one of our clinics: Sydney Sexual Health Centre, The Albion Centre, Short Street Centre or Kirketon Road Centre.
