This is the page of the Male Project of SWOP NSW. SWOP promotes the health, safety and wellbeing of sex industry workers.

SWOP provides sexual health information and support to people who engage in sex work. We run a variety of health programs and provide outreach to sex industry workplaces. We also work with sex industry owners and operators to encourage the acceptance and maintenance of safe sex practices, and other forms of workplace health and safety. SWOP provides more than just health information. We have a wide-reaching team of specialists and sex industry peers. This includes female, male and transgender outreach workers; a multicultural team supporting sex workers from non-English speaking backgrounds; a counsellor; and an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander outreach worker. All team members outreach to both metro and regional NSW. SWOP works with NSW sex workers, management and their clients. We endeavour to make our programs and services appropriate for sex workers from a diverse range of backgrounds with particular regard to gender, culture, language and age. We also work with other people who participate in sex for favours, cash, drugs, clothing, a place to stay, alcohol or anything else, either often, or on occasion. We’ve seen gonorrhoea and syphilis in the news a bit this week - national data is showing that the numbers of both STIs are up across Australia.

The data isn’t SWer specific, but it is a handy reminder that gonorrhoea is still around and maybe gives us all a gentle nudge in the direction of our local STI testing clinic.

Gonorrhoea doesn’t always cause symptoms, and it can be treated!

Depending on the kinds of s*x you’re having, testing might involve more than one site, including your throat, ge****ls and/or re**um. So when you get your s*xual health check, let your clinician know what kind of s*x you’re having so they can make sure they’re testing the right places.

Kelly from SWOP NSW will be at RPA Sexual Health Clinic tomorrow from 1-4pm. Kelly speaks Mandarin and can provide peer support, referrals, SWer specific resources in Chinese and English and free safer s*x supplies.

Today is S*x Worker Pride Day when we celebrate the self-determination, resilience and glorious diversity of s*x workers everywhere! And tomorrow we’re going to keep the celebrations going with a s*x worker pride picnic. 🥖🥝🍹
Bring a picnic blanket and join us for an afternoon of food and festivity. We’ll provide snacks and refreshments. Feel free to bring a plate to contribute…or just bring your beautiful self.

What is MyCheck and would it work for SWers?

MyCheck is another way for eligible people to access STI testing without having to go to a s*xual health clinic for the test itself. Sounds handy! But whether it works for SWers depends on more than that.

Privacy. Convenience. Work certificates. Language access. SWer-friendly care.

SWOP NSW Is working with South Eastern Sydney Local Health District to hear directly from you, about what you need from a service like this - to help develop services across NSW that work for us.

If you're wanting to make some changes around habits that are no longer serving you, we host the only SMART Recovery meeting in NSW for SWers.

The program is peer led and non-judgemental - letting you set your own goals and pace, based on what changes matter to you.

The SWOP NSW office will be closed tomorrow from 10am. We'll reopen at 2pm for all your s*x worker needs.

(We close on the first Wednesday of each month while we have our general meeting).

The theme for this year’s World Sexual Health Day is Every Body.
Sexual health is more than STI prevention. It is access to accurate information and stigma-free care. S*x workers deserve s*xual health information and services that respect our choices and lives.

Sexual health includes consent, bodily autonomy, safety and empowerment to make informed choices about our bodies. We provide free safer-s*x supplies, information, peer support and referrals for s*x workers across NSW. Drop in, get in touch or call us for a yarn.
