[Episode 71 - Podcast Drop] When “we’re so close” becomes “I don’t know where you end and I begin.” 🧸❤️
In the latest episode of What’s the Schemata?, Chris Hayes and Rob Brockman unpack the Enmeshment Schema — “I’m fine if you’re fine.”
We explore how relationships can become so intertwined that our emotions, decisions and sense of identity become overly dependent on another person.

Dear colleagues,
We are seeking participants for a study validating the Chinese translation of the Young Schema Questionnaire-Revised (YSQ-R), a widely used psychological measure that identifies patterns of thinking and feeling often rooted in childhood experiences.
We are looking for participants fluent in Chinese to help test whether the translation is clear and accurate, so it can be used confidently in clinical and research settings.
Participation is anonymous and involves completing a series of rating-scale questionnaires (~30–60 minutes or less):
Traditional Chinese survey: https://utsau.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9KylfOx2q7cSbMG
Simplified Chinese survey: https://utsau.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_aabwCWlTb1QUPtQ
We'd be grateful if you could also share this invitation with your networks because the more participants we reach, the stronger this tool will be.
Thank you for supporting this research!
Kind regards,

New What’s the Schemata? Podcast Drop! 🎙️
Episode 69: Back to the Future: Schema Therapy, CBT and What’s Next?
This one was really fun.
Chris Hayes and I were joined by Dutch CBT, Imagery and Schema clinical researcher Julie Krans, PhD, to explore the interface between Schema Therapy, modern CBT and clinical science.
It also had me reflecting a little on my own journey.
Like many Schema Therapists, I started within the CBT model. In many ways, that grounding was what allowed me to appreciate what Schema Therapy added—and why it was so powerful.
But perhaps we sometimes think about that journey as moving from CBT to Schema Therapy.
What if we looked at it differently?
How can developments in modern CBT help us become better Schema Therapists? And how can Schema Therapy contribute back to CBT?
We get into some fascinating emerging work around schema modes within CBT, Imagery Rescripting, exposure, anxiety and OCD, including what might be possible when we stop thinking about our therapy models as separate camps and start looking more closely at where they intersect. The episode links to several recent studies from Julie and colleagues exploring exactly these questions.:

A bit of Back to the Future—looking back at where we came from to think about where Schema Therapy might be heading next.
Plenty of cool learnings in this one.

Early Bird Closing on our Brand New Level 3 Schema Therapy Curriculum - Just when you thought the 'Journey' was over. A deep exploration of how to work with pseudo-vulnerability modes (e.g. complaining protector, victim/pity mode, ventilating clients etc.) and 'stuck' inner critics that won't budge. Also advanced and novel protocols for imagery and chair-work. The latest developments in schema therapy stacked into a 2-Day workshop. Places left for Sydney and Bali with Dr Rob Brockman
