Here’s something I want you to think about in your next preschool language session:
How many repetitions are you actually getting? If you’re targeting big and little, don’t just choose an activity where you could target it. Choose activities that give you lots of opportunities to teach it, model it and practise it. Then keep the session moving. You can change toys and activities while still creating repetitions of the same language target.
This is exactly why I included a Dose Plan in my 10-Minute Session Planning System within the Preschool Language Therapy Toolkit. I want Speechies thinking about dose before they walk into the therapy room — not getting to the end of the session and realising they barely practised the goal.
You don’t need to obsess over hitting a perfect number, but your dose shouldn’t be accidental. It should be planned. Don’t just plan the activity. Plan the repetitions.
Save this one for your next preschool language session.
