The other week I had the pleasure of presenting to a local daycare on emotional and sensory regulation, and fine motor development for school readiness 🤍
When children are struggling to participate, communicate, or engage in daily activities, often there is more going on beneath the surface than what we initially see. Understanding a child’s sensory and emotional needs allows us to better support their wellbeing, learning, and participation.
We also explored the important role everyday play experiences have in developing the fine motor skills that form the foundation for many school based tasks. School readiness is about so much more than letters and numbers. It’s about supporting children to build the foundations they need to engage, learn, and thrive.
I am very grateful for the opportunity to share knowledge and practical strategies to support educators in feeling more confident supporting children with diverse developmental needs.
