Joint Mobilisation, Assisted Stretching, and Deep Tissue Massage
The main purpose is to mobilise the thoracic spine, shoulders, and chest through controlled rotation and assisted stretching through slow, controlled movement.
🌿 I use my body weight, posture, and body mechanics to generate the movement rather than relying on arm strength. As the client’s leg is positioned over my shoulder and the body is gently rotated, the technique can:
• Stretch the gluteus maximus, gluteus medius, piriformis, hamstrings, and hip flexors.
• Help release tension in the lower back, including the quadratus lumborum and erector spinae muscles.
• Improve flexibility of the hips, lower back, and pelvis.
• Promote more natural movement and help reduce stiffness associated with prolonged sitting, driving, or physical training.
As the arm is gently positioned behind the body while the chest is rotated in a controlled manner, the technique can:
🌿 Stretch the pectoralis major and pectoralis minor muscles.
🌿 Help open the chest and improve rounded shoulder posture caused by prolonged sitting.
🌿 Increase mobility of the shoulder joint and scapula (scapulothoracic mobility).
🌿 Stretch the anterior deltoid, latissimus dorsi, and surrounding shoulder muscles.
🌿 Improve coordination between the shoulders, chest, and thoracic spine.
🌿 Help reduce tension and stiffness across the shoulders, chest, and upper back.
Each movement is performed slowly, with control, and is adapted to the client’s individual flexibility and mobility. The goal is to improve movement quality, not to force a stretch or manipulate the joints aggressively.
This technique is particularly beneficial for people who spend long hours at a computer, drive frequently, work as massage therapists, nail technicians, hairdressers, or anyone experiencing rounded shoulders, a tight chest, and restricted shoulder mobility.
🗣️ This technique is not suitable for every client. Everyone has different levels of flexibility, mobility, medical history, and physical condition. Every client is assessed before treatment, and all techniques are modified to suit the individual, ensuring safety, comfort, and effectiveness.
