Happy NAIDOC Week everyone!

The 2026 national theme, "50 Years of Deadly," marks five decades of NAIDOC Week celebrations.

It reflects on the resilience, creativity, and leadership of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, honouring Elders, activists, artists, and organisers who have sustained the movement.

The theme celebrates intergenerational knowledge sharing, youth leadership, and cultural strength, while acknowledging the ongoing contributions of First Nations peoples across all sectors of society

We hope to see you all out and about at the upcoming events this week, coming together to celebrate culture, community, and 50 years strong!

Working with Children Week, which is held from 22–28 June 2026, is a great opportunity to reflect on how the decisions we make every day help keep children safe

This year’s theme, Start safe: smarter recruitment for child safety, is less about compliance and more about judgement. It’s a reminder that child safety is built through people, culture and systems, often long before a child ever walks through the door

Recruitment decisions play a vital role in keeping children safe. The people we employ directly shape child safety. This Working with Children Week, we’re celebrating child safety from the very beginning by ensuring induction, supervision, training and support are just as important as screening to create safe environments for children

NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK IS HERE!

The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2026 is "All In", a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day

Reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians

Reconciliation will not happen by itself, and it will not happen without all of us

Every year on 26th May, National Sorry Day remembers and acknowledges the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, which we now know as ‘The Stolen Generations’

IndigAbility acknowledges the deep pain and trauma that was caused by forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families. We acknowledge the strength and resilience of the Stolen Generation survivors and their families
