WHAT’S CHRONIC PAIN?

🗓 Pain lasting longer than we’d expect (usually more than 3 months)

🧠 Pain that persists even though there may be no tissue damage or stimulus to cause the pain.

Living with chronic pain is isolating, but know that you’re alone. It’s the world’s fastest growing medical condition, with 1 in 5 Australians living with it.

This years theme is “Connection”. It is important for those living with chronic pain to connect with their body and acknowledge their pain and also seek support and advice from others rather than suffering in silence.

LOCKDOWN TIP # 1

STAY ACTIVE (and just quietly what a beautiful part of the world to do so!!!)

You better believe you still can during lockdown, inside your home and outside whilst staying COVID safe. We’d recommend trying to get in at least 150 mins of moderate intensity exercise per week - don’t freak out it’s only 20 mins per day!

Here’s our best picks of how to do so:
Walking 🚶‍♀️
Swimming (you never regret a swim) 🏊‍♀️
Golf ⛳️
Mowing the lawn/gardening 🏡
Surfing 🏄🏿‍♀️

Or just 75 mins of vigorous intensity:
Running🏃‍♀️
Cycling 🚴‍♀️
Tennis 🎾

Physical activity is great for physical health (promoting weight loss & reducing our risk of many cardiovascular diseases) and mental health (reducing stress and anxiety, and improving sleep).

Always keep in mind be careful not to do too much too soon and put yourself at risk of injury.
