I had a great conversation with David Clayton from the Folding Towels podcast. We spoke about my journey into running and triathlons, how I became a massage therapist and started my studio. I hope you enjoy listening

So many massages, so little time! I love to help my clients reduce stress and relax their bodies. Every body is different and I treat it as such.

Taking time for yourself during a massage isn't indulgent. It's one of the few moments your body gets full permission to stop performing and simply rest, letting your nervous system downshift from constant alert to actual calm.

Being present for it (rather than mentally drafting emails) is what lets you notice the tension leaving, so you leave not just physically loosened but reset. It's normal for your mind to wander. If you want to be more present in your massages you can count your breaths or focus on the sensation.

3 reasons your jaw is tighter than you think:

1. Stress - your jaw is one of the body's favourite places to store it. Clenching and grinding often happen without you even noticing, especially overnight.
2. Trigger points - tiny "knots" in the jaw and neck muscles can refer pain elsewhere, so that headache or earache might actually be coming from your jaw.
3. Posture and habits - resting your chin on your hand, poor posture or old injuries can all quietly load up tension in the jaw joint over time.

A targeted jaw massage can help release that tension, ease clicking or stiffness and get you jaw moving (and chewing) more freely

Did you know all that scrolling on your phone isn't just a strain on the eyes? It can also strain on the back of your neck by overextending the muscles.

Make sure you take regular breaks to look up and not keep your head in the same position for extended periods. You can also try gentle stretching exercises like neck rolls and moving your head side to side.

Massage can provide great relief by releasing the tension, even if it's not sore - you might be surprised how relaxed the neck feels afterwards.

Here's a few things a get up to in my week:

1. Bike riding - I love getting outside and riding my bike. I've transitioned to riding from running and it's a lot less impactful on my feet. I also been into cycle class at Anthem Cycle.

2. Coffee - I like to have a coffee with my friends after a workout. Some of our favourite spots are Silo, Belgrave Cartel and Noon.

3. Massage - Lots of massages with my lovely clients.

4. Sound bowl - I've been practicing using a sound bowl. You swirl a rubber mallet around around the edge and it makes a relaxing reverberating sound.

In this part 2 episode of 'Women who move' with my friend Tony, we hear about her Ironman races which involve and incredible 3.8km swim, 180km cycle and a full marathon!

In 2022 she attempted her first Ironman but unfortunately she had issues with her knee and was taken off the course during the cycling leg because she didn't hit the bike cutoff time.

Still determined she gave herself 12 months to get fit with strength training and the right diet.

In 2024 she was ready to try again. At age 68, she completed the Port Macquarie Ironman. She crossed that finish line with absolute determination (only missing the official cutoff by 24 minutes) and rang the first-timers bell with people in the pub who were still there at one o'clock in the morning, cheering her on.

Tony is still moving, still training, and still finding her mojo as she continues her incredibly inspiring and resilient movement journey.

In this episode of 'Women who move' I speak to my lovely friend Tony. I met Tony when I first joined a triathlon club. She's an inspiring triathlete who's been racing for 20 years - starting when she was 51. She did her first triathlon in 2007 - Triathlon Pink, a fundraiser for breast cancer research in memory and inspiration of her sister had died of breast cancer a few years before.
