The therapeutic relationship can often bring out the attachment wounds that we had with our primary care givers and our fears around closeness, distance, abandonment, and other difficult feelings we experienced. Effective and regular therapy rewires the brain towards secure attachment.

This is not withstanding that sometimes we need therapy to support us through a particular phase in our life or we may not have a relational fit with the therapist we meet, however, it's important to examine where our motives are coming from so that we do not curtail our healing journey.
