Why does your outer thigh feel “tight”? 🤔

Your Iliotibial Band (IT band) is very strong tissue and doesn’t really “tighten” like a muscle.

A small hip muscle (Tensor Fasciae Latae) can start doing more of the work than it should

Your side glutes (Gluteus Medius) may not be supporting the hip enough
When this happens:
→ The thigh may roll inward
→ The knee may drop inward (“knee-in” pattern)
This can increase load through the outer thigh and knee area

Too much walking or running over time
→ Repeats the same load on the same structures
→ Can increase irritation or overload in the outer hip and knee system
Sitting for long periods can also contribute
→ The hip muscles may become less active
→ The hip may rely more on smaller muscles during movement
That “tight” feeling is often your body increasing tension to keep the area stable
